Charity SON Fall 2012

U.S.A. Louisiana

Hello Everyone!

I know I'm early but I'm super excited to begin nursing school. I was wondering if anyone else here is planning to apply to Charity for Fall 2012? Are you done with your prereqs? Taken the HESI? What's your profile score?

I have taken all of my prereqs but it has been 6 years since I took A&P II lecture/lab so I'm taking it now at Delgado. I'm taking the lecture online and I go on campus for the lab. We have only done one exercise in lab so far and I already feel like its not going to be very easy. I took the HESI on Monday and I did pretty well so I'm done with that thank God!

I calculated my profile score and if I get an A in the A&P lecture I'll have 70 points. If I get a B or C, I'll have 65 points. I'm super nervous because when I talked to the admissions lady at Charity she told me the cut off tends to be a bit higher for the Fall semester than the Spring. From reading the forum, it looks like the cut off for Spring 2012 was around a 55 so I'm worried that the cut off for Fall will be like 75! :uhoh3:

Good luck to everyone and I hope to meet some of my future classmates!

I called today, and they said letters will go out this month, not sure exactly when though. and no they dont tell you over the phone if you got in:( I can hardly wait anymore!

Well... I don't know why it came to my mind a couple of days ago this question: "what if my package got lost somewhere and CSN doesn't have the papers???" horrible... I've just been so anxious and thinking about the worst :/ ok, so I called just a few minutes ago and the lady I spoke to confirmed that my paper work was received and is in process now :) and she also told me that I should expect letters for the end of this month. Wow! So more waiting!!!!

Frustrated!!! ?. Days feel like weeks and I'm constantly checking the mailbox to see if they will notify us early.

Me too, Kaykay30!! My heart pounds every time I walk to the mailbox!! This is ridiculous!

I am also waiting (not so patiently) for my letter or my "thank you for applying, but..." letter. In Nov. I went to the open house and the girl leading us around said if you get a packet, it's good news. If you get a small, thin envelope- well, we know what that means. I also have been calling and was told that letters will be sent at the end of the month. WHY do they have to drag this out so long??? It's bad enough that we have to apply about a year in advance.

I love it when people ask what I'm in school for, and I tell them nursing, then they ask how nursing school is. "Well.... I'm not really 'IN' nursing school yet, and, in fact, I don't know for sure that I will be!" O.o Very frustrating!

My sister is in the program now and she says the same.....a packet is good news and a thin little envelope is not so good.

I know what you mean, learning2care. People just don't get it. Or they will ask, "Charity in New Orleans???" No, Charity in Ft Lauderdale!!! I mean, do they just not know what to say? Or "where are you doing you clinicals?" Ummm, once again, I'm not in yet!! Jeez!!! I didn't know about the packet thing though. I'm so nervous!!

Learning2care, what was your profile score? Mine is a 75, but what if they calculate it wrong, or maybe I could have calculated it wrong. But I don't think I did. I'm finished all of my prereq's. I'm also sick of saying,"What if".

My profile score is a 90, I believe. It may be an 80. -- Although on the profile sheet it says you get 10 pts if you have an LPN or a bacc. degree, someone at the school told me thaty you also get the 10 pts if you have an associates degree (I had graduated in '99 from DCC w a degree in sign language). So if they give me those 10 pts, I have a 90 profile score. If not- 80. I have been thinking about this so much that last night (in fact just before I woke up), I dreamt of being at CSN for the first day and them having us jump through ropes that we didn't realize we were even doing, and then at the end of the day, they graded what we did and some were sent home. Geez. I think I'm a bit paranoid. Lol

Yeah, I thought you got the 10 pts for any degree, but I could be wrong too. That's a high profile score. I don't think you have anything to worry about, but I know you will. Funny dream!! Anyway, my brother-in-law is in his 2nd semester, and he just keeps telling me that once we start to not get behind on anything. He didn't keep up in Basics and he ended up repeating it. But he's NAC1 now, and he's doing good. He also works, and he said that if he's not working, he's studying.

Hello all...I'm waiting too. Are letters are going out mid or end of March? I've recalculated my score 100+ times...solid 80 maybe 85. I got an 87 on HESI wish I would have studied. Didn't realize how heavily it weighed at the time I took it. Guess if I don't get in I'll study and increase my application score. Glad to hear about the thick/thin packet info that will cut down the heart attack factor. Good luck to you all and Tom Petty was right..."The Waiting IS the Hardest Part".

Has anyone heard about how many applicants there were this time? They extended the application deadline by like two weeks which makes me think that maybe there weren't a lot of applications being turned in? Maybe that's just wishful thinking!
