Charity SON Fall 2012

U.S.A. Louisiana

Hello Everyone!

I know I'm early but I'm super excited to begin nursing school. I was wondering if anyone else here is planning to apply to Charity for Fall 2012? Are you done with your prereqs? Taken the HESI? What's your profile score?

I have taken all of my prereqs but it has been 6 years since I took A&P II lecture/lab so I'm taking it now at Delgado. I'm taking the lecture online and I go on campus for the lab. We have only done one exercise in lab so far and I already feel like its not going to be very easy. I took the HESI on Monday and I did pretty well so I'm done with that thank God!

I calculated my profile score and if I get an A in the A&P lecture I'll have 70 points. If I get a B or C, I'll have 65 points. I'm super nervous because when I talked to the admissions lady at Charity she told me the cut off tends to be a bit higher for the Fall semester than the Spring. From reading the forum, it looks like the cut off for Spring 2012 was around a 55 so I'm worried that the cut off for Fall will be like 75! :uhoh3:

Good luck to everyone and I hope to meet some of my future classmates!

I really wanted to meet you guys!!!!!! I'm wearing a purple shirt tomorrow with nude pumps. what is your clinical section I will go down the whole table if I have to.

My table is in front of yours. Your table had 3 people win door prizes. I will look for you tomorrow.

Aww, good!! I was hoping to win one too. I think I'm going to do the $100 parking per semester at the Gravier garage. I'm just worried about Saints games, etc... I've been parking in the St Joseph lot, but it's not always guaranteed parking, and I can't imagine not being able to find a spot, especially on test days.

I think there's 3, but yeah, I heard the one that retired was AWESOME!! But the one that is teaching 2 sections of it is awesome too. I liked orientation, but it's all a little overwhelming.

My plan is to try for the $100 parking too. I was having info over load today. Tomorrow we get the real meat and potatoes. I cant wait to find out what books we are going to need. Do you think we will do clinicals at the hospital or will we be on campus? Are you going to use the SAC tutoring in august?

Oh yes, I'll definitely be at the SAC tutoring!! I don't really know how clinicals are going to go. I'm still confused.

Hello everyone! I enjoyed orientation too. I think I am also going to try to get the parking for $100 a semester at LSU lot. A instructor told us in the mini sessions we had at the end that since this semester starts with a new curriculum, we're going to start with clinicals waaaay sooner than past semesters and we're going to have it 2xs a week every week, I'm excited about that! I can't wait for tomorrow!

Morning,

leaving in a minute but will be wearing a fishing shirt and brown slacks..let't see how many faces we can put with a name. Also, if we want to arrange carpooling then we need to begin figuring that out...look forward to meeting everyone!!

Today I met Nurseflow. She informed me that we had a class together. (which was cool) How do you guys feel about the eBooks? I dont like it. I'm trying to get rid of my negitive feelings about it and do what they want. I knew there would be issues with the new curriculum. I'm curious as to how you all feel.

Hey, yeah, nurseflow is in our pharmacology class too, but I put in my request to switch clinical sections so if it's approved, it may change my pharm time as well. No, I do NOT like the ebooks AT ALL!!! I think I'm going to get the print books, and when you purchase those, it comes with the ebooks too, but it's 20% higher. I have to have a regular book!!! And what about the drug book?? I thought we were supposed to have that in clinicals. I don't want to sound like 'debbie downer', but it's bad enough that everything is going to be new to us, and then to have to learn how to navigate through this too is overwhelming to me.

Dear debbie, et al...

I really am not with the e-books either, I am used to having a regular text and besides, I don't have a laptop or anything so that is another added expense!! Not sure which way to go, there are some positives with both, I like the search feature but am not familiar with that system so will have to learn that as well...

Should have known you would have responded to the 'debbie' joke!! They said we HAVE TO get the ebook version, but if you wanted to get the printed version you could have to go along with it. So, I guess we have to bring our laptop to class, right?? Just like we would bring our book?? Don't know.
