Charity SON Fall 2012

U.S.A. Louisiana

Hello Everyone!

I know I'm early but I'm super excited to begin nursing school. I was wondering if anyone else here is planning to apply to Charity for Fall 2012? Are you done with your prereqs? Taken the HESI? What's your profile score?

I have taken all of my prereqs but it has been 6 years since I took A&P II lecture/lab so I'm taking it now at Delgado. I'm taking the lecture online and I go on campus for the lab. We have only done one exercise in lab so far and I already feel like its not going to be very easy. I took the HESI on Monday and I did pretty well so I'm done with that thank God!

I calculated my profile score and if I get an A in the A&P lecture I'll have 70 points. If I get a B or C, I'll have 65 points. I'm super nervous because when I talked to the admissions lady at Charity she told me the cut off tends to be a bit higher for the Fall semester than the Spring. From reading the forum, it looks like the cut off for Spring 2012 was around a 55 so I'm worried that the cut off for Fall will be like 75! :uhoh3:

Good luck to everyone and I hope to meet some of my future classmates!

I did not get minds today either but I applied to the LPN to RN bridge program

I agree. I've met some great applicants that surprisingly didn't get in- and the main difference was that I have a degree and they don't. I really feel bad for those that didn't get accepted because we all put so much energy and positive thoughts into it. We all worked just as hard. I really hope to meet EVERY one of you by spring 13 semester! Keep at it! * * *"And will you succeed? Yes indeed, yes indeed! Ninety-eight and three-quarters percent guaranteed!"-Dr. Seuss

kaykay30, So sorry to hear that news about not getting in. My cousin graduated from William Carey. It is a great school!! I was going to apply there too, but I didn't have the philosophy and religion classes. Keep us posted, and let us know if you get in.

Thanks, I'll keep you posted. I've completed all of the requirements so now I'm just praying. I was sad about not getting in at first but I'm not giving up. I've worked to hard for this.

I received my letter today as well and I didn't get in either..the letter said I was qualifed but my profile score wasn't high enough.. congratulations 2 those who got in and good luck..:)))

Im definitely not gonna give up...the deadline 4 spring is may 15

Does anyone know the cutoff score? Congrats to everyone who was accepted. For those who didn't get accepted keep trying....never give up! :) Whether it be retaking a class or two to get a higher grade or retaking the hesi.

The cutoff score was 70. The director told me that today. She also said that it is a lot harder to get in for the Fall because of so many applicants. She said there was about 400 that applied but only 100 could be accepted.

I lost points on the withdrawal/failure part of the profile due to 2 surgeries I had in 2008. I re-took the courses and made A's and B's but it still counts against you. I made an 85 on the HESI.

kaykay30, yeah I don't think they go by a profile score over there so I don't think it would matter if you had to withdraw. I know for sure SELU doesn't either. They strictly go by overall GPA. My cousin didn't get into Holy Cross College or LSU, but was accepted at William Carey. And plus, you'll have that 4 yr degree. That's what you really want. Even after I finish at Charity, I'm going back to SELU for the RN to BSN program. I feel like I have to because I have so many hrs invested not to.

Thanks... I'm feeling hopeful but I'm also very prayerful.

Anyone going to the 4/12 program advising session? I'm going on that day and I have a meeting w my advisor immediately afterward. I am going to start the Hep B vaccine this week. And they've lost my shot records (thanks, Katrina) and they have to take blood to do an antibody test to see which vaccines I've had. Fun. Fun. Fun! Lol. Well, It will all be worth it. :) I am getting excited and looking forward to meeting people. If anyone is going on 4/12 and sees a red head w glasses:specs:- that's me. And I'm terrible w names, esp. the ones on here, since they're not like "Bob" or "Sue", so I won't remember who's who by those. I'm so bad at that! Lol. But I hope to meet at least someone from our all nurses support group over there
