Charity School of Nursing Spring 2019

Published

Hey all! I am applying to Charity School of Nursing Delgado this summer for the Spring 2019 classes. I wanted to start this thread for some support and to help keep each other updated. I just checked Delgado's website for Charity's application deadlines. It's saying applications for Spring are July 1st - July 15th.. is this incorrect?! Everything I've read in the past has August 1-15 as applications :( ...I am taking classes over the summer to help apply to Charity, they will not be completed by July 1st!! This doesn't seem right.

So my score is 60 now that I lost 10 pts since our cumulative GPA no longer gives us points. So the points required changes with the pool of applicants which has me believing that people with scores in the 50s should apply too. But 60-65 is what the normal acceptance minimum has been the last few application periods.

Hi! Rloetz where did you see we do not get points for cumulative GPA? I swear it's on the sheet I was given from West Bank campus last month.

Advisor at charity gave it to me and it is on the delgado website too

Specializes in CCRN.

Yeah Hbabin.. the first sheet I was given several months ago had it, but the new updated version on Delgado's website has it under prospective students of the RN program. We still get our points for core nursing curriculum, but they omitted the overall GPA category.

Yep! I went look on charity website last night and found it, thank you. The advisor just gave me this in May and I have been looking at the wrong point bracket. Now the most you can get is 100. I now have 55 instead. And if I get three points higher on my Hessi I'll have a 60 profile score (made a 77 without prep. Did not so good on the bio but if I would have I would have had over an 80 because everything else was great...bummer. Haven't had bio since 2007. I am a returning graduate with a bachelors). The old point system was 110 and I saw lots of people with a 65 get in. If you drop the 10 it's the same ratio I'm just not sure if it's worth trying or not. Any thoughts from anyone would be great! Thanks!!

@hbabin I completely understand. My profile is a 65 right now and I was wondering if I should take the hesi to get 90 and boost it up to a 70 or if I should just try my luck. I was told that the cut off usually teeters around 60-65..

I was told the cutoff usually is 65 too. If you search this forum last application period a bunch got in with 65. The ratio was 65 out of 110. So now mine would be 55/100 without the cumulative GPA points section. It's oretty much the same ratio so I'm curious...hmmm

I think you should try and retake the HESI, when I talked to Ms. Thornton she said the same thing 60-65 is usually the cutoff.. good luck everyone. I have decided to not retake the HESI, I sat down with Ms. Thornton and she totaled my score up and it was 65 so I'm going to keep my fingers crossed, praying I get in!

So I actually asked them if the cutoff was gonna be different because we all lose potential points and the answer was "it depends on the pool of applicants" I say apply anyway it does not hurt you and if you do not get accepted then you will know what you need to do to improve your chance. Last applicant period scores as low as 60 got in.

For those who are turning applications Monday, what time are yall going? Maybe we can meet one another.

I plan on going for 10:30/11... Would love to meet yall

Does it go into play if you apply the first day of drop offs or closer to the end? I want to retake my HESI.
