Charge Nurse reduce in pay to give Super's a raise!

Published

All the charge nurses got this e-mail: We are sorry but we are decreasing the charge pay by 50 cents an hour to be able to keep the house supervisors salaries in line. Can you believe it? Although I do like doing charge now & again, the lousy $1.00 an hour is not my incentive, very little money for alot of responsibility!

I agree with llg, sounds like they may be trying to pit the two groups against each other. I work at 2 hospitals, one pays 0.50/hr for charge and the other 1.00. I guess that's better than the first hospital I worked at, which didn't pay a charge nurse diff at all. Needless to say, people aren't exactly beating down the doors to be in charge. Of course you always have those power-hungry people who'd do it for free...

Contact your union. You do have one, don't you?

If someone attempts to take a dime of pay away from me, I would no longer work as a charge nurse. The added responsibilities, in my opinion, deserve some type of added compensition.

Agree with this.

(Though the tune of "Take this job and shove it", is running through my brain)

I think employers need to watch the news and read the paper once in a while, the price of everything is going up, not down. That should include our wages. Taking away money is foolish and totally unethical in times like this.
