Changing kids clothes and cleaning them

Hi guys,

My co-worker nurse who works at the other elementary school in my district, had a student to bloop on himself. And the teacher sent him to her and the teacher stated that she can not clean him or change his clothes. So she asked her to do it. So if it was me I will call mom or dad to do it, because I don't want to get caught up in, she touched me here or there thingy . So do you guys clean and change the little ones? What's your policy on this?

Last Friday about 30 minutes before dismissal I had Kinder teacher start sending me kids to "check their pants" - she had a mystery pooper in her class that was stinking up the room and none of the kids would admit to it. After the 3rd kid was sent down I finally told her to stop that I could not be checking the kids or asking them repeatedly if they messed their pants....she was not very happy with me :(

I had this happen to me at my old school. It was a 2nd grader that obviously had never had a BM at school and his mother wipes him at home. Of course they call the nurse to take care of the "incident in the boys bathroom" that is how it was called out on the walkie talkie. I made a male teachers aide stand in the bathroom. I handed the student baby wipes and toilet paper and he learned that day how to clean himself and change his clothes. Then 2 weeks later I get the call to come and do it again. I went straight to the principle and told her the situation and she informed the teacher from now on to call his mother. Now younger kids I wouldn't mind helping again. But this student just didn't want to wipe himself. I say just don't start anything you do not want to keep doing.

Our district didn't go as far as banning non-potty trained kids (least restrictive environment and all that), but we expect them to be self sufficient or in special ed. The special ed kids I don't have to deal with. That leaves "accidents." Had more when I was in elementary school and as others say, I'd hand them a box of wipes. If the clothes were too far gone to salvage, I'd call the parents. I do admit to having kept a few packages of the cheapest walmart underpants around in my desk in the case of emergencies. I also salvaged some pasable things from the unclaimed lost and found and washed them and kept the around (though mostly what I have are sweatshirts though an oversized one works wonders at times).

In high school, I don't get much of that. I do have a few disposable panties and some pads and tampons for the girls.
