OP: I posted the link to collegescorecard.ed.gov because it will give you important information about this community college but it does need some interpretation.

Since it is a community college most students are testing the academic waters at tuition prices that won't put them in loan mill armageddon. So the grad rate of 20% is not surprising given the fact that the student population is somewhat mobile. But at $8,536 per year you could save and work and pay your own way without being beholden to some loan shyster on Wall Street. On the other hand their retention rate is a respectable 63%. This means 63% of the students who started the prior year came back for year two.

Now anecdotal stories abound with any school. It works like this. If you graduate, it's a great school, if you don't, it sucks. All the scuttlebut is of tertiary importance compared to a school's record of turning out a reasonable percentage of trained or retrained professionals but at a reasonable price that won't kill you.

On the other hand the for-profits do not do neither of these things. Being in Arizona, you are in the land of the University of Phoenix. If you look at their track record, you will be surprised at how their schools across the board could have such low graduation and retention rates while charging such ridiculously high tuition prices. Of course they will always say "why you picking on us?" but the facts in black and white belie their claims of being a friend to nursing academics. (and this despite their CCNE accreditation)

So go to school as cheaply as possible, take your prerequisites so when you're an RN you can have a life, a house, a car, a family without some rent collector loan shark threatening your right to domestic tranquility.
