Chamberlain University January 2021

Nursing Students Chamberlain College

Published

Just wondering if anyone else is applying or has been accepted to the January 2021 cohort. I am currently in west Texas working in the oil fields. I absolutely hate it. I applied and was accepted to the Pearland Chamberlain campus back in 2017. I completed Nurs-103 and had to stop attending for personal reasons. But I reached out recently to apply for the Las Vegas campus. I've talked a second time with admissions and updated my app for the January start date. I was told since I am a former student I don't need to retake the HESI. All im waiting for is for the evaluation board to review my file and accept me. So I wanted to start this thread for admitted or potentially admitted students so we can get to know each other and network together.

Hi,

I am Stacy and I'm interested in applying to the LV campus. I was just wondering what their minimum GPA requirement is and whether or not HESI is required for January and May cohorts? Thank you!

The minimum GPA is 2.75. As far as I know they require you to do the HESI. Initially when I talked to the admissions rep she told me that I would have to take it. But she said that I would have to schedule a test time with them and I could take it on my laptop wherever I’m at as long as I have a camera on my laptop or computer. She told me this because she knows that I am in Texas at the moment. I would say give them a call they are pretty open to answering whatever questions you have. And right now is the perfect time to get your application submitted as well as start the process of trying to get admitted. If you need the number I can give it to you just let me know.

I applied August 20th for January 2021, took the HESI exam September 1. I received my exam results right after I finished the exam. September 9th the director of admissions contacted me to let me know that she forward my transcripts to the registrar office. Today I received a phone call, from the director of admissions and I have an appointment September 28th to go over my transcripts as well as the financial aid... I'm still praying!

I’m sure since they are going to cover all of your transfer classes you’re accepted. If not they’d have no reason to move forward with a second appointment. At least that’s the way it played out for me when I was accepted the first time here in Texas. I should be hearing something back this week or next on whether I’ve been accepted  or not. I did ask my admissions representative if I had a chance of being accepted once again. She looked at my file and told me there’s no reason I should not get a positive response one day once the decision review board have reviewed my files. So maybe we will be in classes together!

You might be right! The suspense is killing me, I keep logging on to check my registration status or degree works but it keeps giving me an error message. I hope you do get accepted, let me know how it goes!.. I still have to wait another week to go over my transcript, I cant wait for the day to come.

I had to take the HESI exam for January. You take the exam from home though, your PC has to have a camera and working microphone. The school helped me schedule my exam. The GPA requirement needed is a 2.75

Hello,

Thank you for your response! Was the HESI exam difficult?

The HESI was not difficult to me it was very straight forward and as long as you study you will be perfectly fine. I took the TEAS prior to the HESI and I personally think the TEAS was more difficult because they ask questions more in depth..

Today is my meeting with the academic advisor to go over what classes would be able to transfer over. I am excited and nervous.. And I think the next step after this, everything gets forwarded to the admissions committee for a decision.. I am really nervous! Does anyone have any feedback to give me?

Just finished with going over my transcript with the academic advisor. Waiting for the nursing committee decision.. Pray for me!

No I didn’t think it was that hard. Just study the study guides and you should be good. The part that surprised me was the math. I’d done up to Calc 2 and that was my lowest scored section out of the entire exam ??‍♂️ It was a little embarrassing hahaha. But you should be OK.
