Chamberlain

Nursing Students Online Learning

Hi, I was just accepted to chamberlain for March 2007. I was wondering if anyone else will be starting then? I was also wondering if any of you who started in october would be willing to share your opinion of the program. Thanks

Hi Guys,

The funny thing was that I was so used to going to St. Louis for validations and taking the ATI that when it was time for the NCLEX I went back there as well to take it and it worked for me :-) I'm so happy I did it because it was my only option and if I was starting now I would go the same route again. Good luck to you guys and stay strong!

Congrats to you, but what is an ATI? Is that part of the validation?

LTNurse-

You don't know HOW BAD I NEEDED TO HEAR what you posted, thanks! I am feeling very discouraged and have been ready to walk away, but hearing from others that have succeeded helps me stay focused.

Did you transfer any credits from any other college classes? I trying to find out how receptive they are for previous college credits.

Thanks, any other feedback about the program?

Hello all just registered today and I am so glad to find this forum it has been so helpful. I have a question about Chamberlain I am currently a LPN in Columbus, Ohio and been practicing for 8 years + as an LPN. I finally am taking the next step to obtain my RN. I have already taken the TEAS test and passed all 4 sections submitted all required paperwork ie transcripts, application, they told me the next step is that my file has to go before the dean of the school. What I am wondering is how hard is it to get in from this point I am so nervous can anyone shed some light?

That does sound a little crazy. I wouldn't be nervous it seems as though you would be a good candidate for the program. Do you know if you have to take the TEAS exam if you already have Bachelor's degree?

Is Chamberlain accredited? Can you work in IL? Lastly, how many clinical hours are required? Thanks so much for your help.

Sarah

Heya maddenkim thanks for the reply, and yes you do my brother-in-law has his bach and his MBA and they made him take the TEAS test.

I'm waiting to get accepted also!!!

I don't think it should be too hard to get accepted. They just started to the TEAS test thing and waited til the last minute schedule it which turned up less than normal applicants that took the exam. (if that makes sense, its early) They are accepted 40 student for the summer.

Good Luck

Thanks for the info Nik good luck to you also

I posted a huge warning to out of state students and it was removed, but you guys need to be aware of this!

I was asked last week to either leave the program or committ to traveling to MO once a week. ANd no I wasn't asked to leave because I can't handle it , my GPA is a solid 3.6....they weren't able to get a clinical placement. I have my doubts as to how hard they actually did try. Now I have a huge student loan bill and no degree....do what you must, but just file this away because it could indicate a huge problem with the schools online ASN program.

Specializes in RN.

I can't believe they are doing that to you! I wonder if some legal action can be taken because they advertised a service ("do nursing school from a distance") and they did not deliver...it is not right at all! Just a thought also, I wonder if you could go to the hospitals/nursing homes and ask yourself. It is much easier to say no to a faxed piece of paper than it is to a person. Keep us posted on all this!

I did directly go to the hospital I wanted to do my rotations at, the one that I also want to work at someday...I got a very positive response from the DON, very postive!!!!!!!!!!! All they needed to place me with a preceptor was a contract from Chamberlain, one that they NEVER recieved, so my thinking is that Chamberlain had already decided that they weren't working with students in some states and this was their way of taking care of us. I have a folder full of emails and a log of phone calls I made to the school, most of which were ignored or placated with pat anwsers like "we are working very hard..". Legal action sounds great and I am sure is necessary in a case like this, however I sit here with over $10, 000 in loans for tuition and fees alone, not to mention the out of pocket expense of books, uniform (which I have on ebay), travel to MO twice to include hotel costs...point being I am flat busted, and looking into various odd jobs over the summer to just recoup book fees.

I am distraught, angry and bordering on depressed about my future of myself and family. I put everyone in a holding pattern so I could get my degree and not only follow my dream, but add to the family income. I would strongly discourage anyone from falling into the convenience trap, it is just not worth it....
