Chamberlain Sacramento May 2019

Nursing Students Chamberlain College

Hey everyone!!!

I applied for the May 2019 start at the Sac campus. I don't see a current feed, so I wanted to start this one so other applicants can get connected.

I would love to know if you've been admitted, waiting to hear your admission decision, or if you're considering applying.

Look forward to talking to you all!!!

Hey! I applied to chamberlain last fall 2018 and didn’t get accepted. I had a HESI score of 86% and a gpa of 3.8. I’ll be applying again for fall 2019. Let me know what your stats were if you’re admitted!

Thanks for your response!!!

I got a 91.3 on the HESI and I have a 3.41 overall gpa. It’s hard to know where I stand because I test high but my gpa is lower. My file is being reviewed on the 31st so I will let you know what my news I receive.

Hey Maggie,

i think you’re going to get in NO PROBLEM! They usually accept a 3.2-3.6 GPA and a HESI of 90.5% and higher! I didn’t have any of the sciences done when I originally took the HESI. I scored 90’s on everything and only 80’s in the sciences which brought down my overall score. I’m going to be applying again in March for the fall 2019 cohort and hopefully I do better since I have taken the sciences, if I don’t get into Sac this time around I’m considering transferring my application to the Nevada campus and then either trying to transfer within back to the sac campus or just sucking it up for two years and take the NCLEX in Cali ?

Hey! Man, how hard is it to sit here and wait to find out? Do you know when we are supposed to find out? I applied for May, as well. I have a low(ish) GPA of 3.38, and I scored 94.8 on the HESI. I am so nervous because I have seen it go either way with GPA's in my range. Patience is barely in my wheelhouse, so this is tantamount to torture. Good luck to you both!

I think for those who applied in May should find out soon! I am applying for September so I probably won’t find out until the end of April! Just torture!

Hi everyone!

Im hoping to apply for the September 2019 start date but I’m still working on my college GPA. I had a few substandard grades (D and F) back in 2006 and 2007 that I’m actually applying for academic renewal at Sierra College to get those grades erased from my overall GPA (my father passed away during that time.. long story). Anyway, I didn’t want to waste time retaking the courses as they are mostly irrelevant to nursing. My GPA should be about a 3.55 once I’ve applied for the academic renewal. The problem is.. the grades will still show on my transcript but will not be calculated in my GPA. I’m wondering if Chamberlain Sacramento campus will still consider me even though my transcript will show those substandard grades. I’m hoping I’ll have a chance to explain the situation by writing a letter or something but I’m not sure if that’s how it works.. anyone else in a similar position? Thanks and good luck to all of you!!!

I think retaking the HESI after taking sciences will boost your score even more!!! I’m considering that option too, however, it’s so much simpler to stay local. I’m crossing my fingers and I wish luck to you over the next few months!!!!

Hi there!!

What a great HESI score. We have very comparable stats.

My advisor reached out and said the next admissions meeting is on the 31st and applicants should be notified of their decisions within a week. I can’t wait much long ether. Good luck and update us when you receive your decision. Let’s hope this week goes by fast!!!

I think they will definitely still consider you. Chamberlain requires a personal statement so you always can focus a paragraph on your situation and what you’ve overcome. I would try to continue getting academic renewal on whatever courses you can, as well as repeat any courses that chamberlain requires, because the higher grade will replace the original one. Study, study, study for the HESI. From what I’ve been told by my advisor, a high HESI score will make you more competitive, even if your GPA may not be the highest. Good luck and let me know if you have any question during your process!!!

So I just reapplied, and I am going to be scheduling my HESI asap. I have been studying all year for this as well as take most of my science pre reqs- A&P, and chem. I'm just really nervous about the biology portion because I haven't taken micro yet, is this really basic stuff? or is it super in depth?

thanks!

Hey there! I found the bio to be very basic. I didn’t find the bio section super related to micro. Rather, it was general biology concepts!!!

I studied using the pocket prep app for HESI A2. It’s amazing and allowed me to study anywhere just with my phone!!
