I am presently a student RN-BSN @ Chamberlain. It is expensive and I had to get student loans -- but the advisors helped with that part. You will only get as much out of the courses as you are willing to put into them. There are students that just do the bare minimum and they are getting the same BSN that I am. Eight weeks is not a lot of time to learn everything you might want to know about a subject but it is adequate for learning all the basics. You have to be able to read and learn on your own and stay focused and motivated -- you snooze, you lose. I am taking two courses at a time and that is a lot of work/reading/writing to put on top of working at the hospital -- most people at the school seem to do only one at a time. The general education courses are through DeVry and their internet system is MUCH better than Chamberlain! All in all it has been an okay educational experience.
There are NO clinicals required for the program since it is for licensed RNs only.
Is it as good as going to a class? -- probably not; was that an option for me? -- probably not.
Best of luck to you in whichever program you choose!

I will finish with the RN-BSN online this December. I'm taking this 8 weeks off and have three classes to go. (WOOHOO!) I agree with RockyCreek that it is costly, yet I received good transfer credits and the time vs. cost was attractive to me. UOP is about the same price per credit hour so it is quite comparable to other web based programs. There are a lot of papers involved. Last eight weeks I took two nursing courses and had seven, 2-8 page papers due during that time. Writing papers is not difficult for me so it fits my learning style, but the research can be time consuming. I have only had two "group" projects, which also appeals to me. Several nurses within my facility have completed this program without issues. I find the staff to be easily accessable and helpful with any questions or concerns I have had. There are many options out there, you just have to find the right fit for you.

I am applying to a state university--- which costs $109/credit hour
it's 3 semesters and 3 of the classes are exams taken through excelsisor exams.
I Hope to get in there because the price is great!
Sounds like a great plan at a fabulous price. The Univeristies in my area required much more course work for the RN-BSN transition. One required an extra chemisty class which was held four days per week, that was just not an option for me working full time in critical care. There are many different options to reach a BSN, you just need to explore the options and decide which fits your lifestyle.

I almost went with Chamberlain until I found out they ARE DeVry and are currently being investigated for credit they've been granting! I really want my $60 back as I specifically told the enrollment person that I wouldn't do UOP because of their ongoing investigations. That said, I am going to Fort Hays through their virtual RN-BSN program. No loans needed, $161 a credit hour. The people there are really helpful and it's all online!

Hello, I am currently a student at Chamberlain in the RN-BSN program. I just started July 7th and taking two classes every 8 weeks plus work. It is a challenge but I want to complete the program in 1 year(11 of 14 classes). So far it has been fine, but statistics is really hard to teach yourself and I am studing really hard for this class. Anyone considering this program might want to complete the general education courses prior to enrollimg. Will help with tuition cost as well which is over $500.00 per credit hour. The experince I have had with the advisors and FA thus far has been good.
Congrats!!! My date is set for April09. Any advice or tips?

I am at Chamberlain RN-BSN and if you like writing papers it's good, if not, look elsewhere.
But it is NOT EASY! like some may think.
it's too much money. I like to keep my money for me!! state school is where I'm at!
