What are your thoughts about Chamberlain College of Nursing FNP program?

Hi, Iam taking Advanced Physical assessment class at Chamberlain NR 509 and Im avery stress with this class, specially for the lab-weekend! any guidance for this course that you can give me please....I will really appreciate it. Thank you

Quime, are you in the FNP track? I may be wrong, but I believe you may be the first wave of students going through the advanced physical assessment course. I am also in the first graduating class, but I wanted to complete all the non-clinically based classes first. My next course is 509.

You have to remember that everyone is in the same boat as you. Nervous, new to the material, etc. And of course, when you don't have that bond with your classmates, it makes you more nervous for the lab weekend, but I am sure it will all be fine.

BTW, you should private message me, I'm sure I've had you in some of my classes.

Just curious, what is your background? I'm ALL perinatal, so I have to be honest... I haven't cared for a male since I had one pass out while his wife was getting an epidural! :) See... we are all going to be nervous!!

Best of Luck!

I have a practicum advisor at Chamberlain. I have to give her the facilities that I am hoping to precept, then she sets it all up. I have one that I would love to go to, then a back up... To be honest, I am going to submit a 3rd back up just in case, but they seem pretty diligent about getting you ready for your classes.

I was constantly speaking to my advisor to decide if Chamberlain program was right for me. I submitted my application and received notification in a week, but I received it from my advisor while I was on the phone. She was able to sign me up for classes right then.

I was the FIRST class to get in... i'm sure there is much more exposure now, which may be why it is taking longer.

No I am not the first wave, I think there is another group who's started before me on September 2013.

Hi , what class are you taking right now, I am a FNP student

NR510 - leadership. I started in september 2013, but it looks as though some students may have doubled up on classes, so i will not be in the first graduating class

Hello,

Have you started the Chamberlain FNP program? If so, how is it? If not, are you enrolled elsewhere? I'm just beginning the process of finding schools to apply to so interested in any feedback you may have.

:-)

Thank you Kathleen,

You have given me great insight into the Chamberlin NP program. I will be finishing my online BSN in February and plan on applying to Chamberlin. What you have explained seems very similar to what I am already use to. If you think of any other tips please keep me posted.

Thanks again,

Lori

I started the FNP program at Chamberlain in January and have since transferred out to Resurrection University (I live in Chicago). I think you need to assess what type of learning environment you do best in. Personally, a few online classes don't bother me but I learn by bouncing my ideas off of others and felt I would get this in an in-class environment. If you do well with online learning and enjoy it, you will be fine. The Chamberlain program was very manageable with working full-time, I took three classes, got all A's, and did not feel overwhelmed at all. However, I felt that having to find our own clinical sites would leave me unprepared to sit and take a board exam. I'm starting Resurrection's program in September!

Emilyewrn -- I just completed the first 8 week session for FNP at Chamberlain and now I'm not sure I want to continue with them. I completed by BSN through Chamberlains Online program and this first class seemed repetitive to what I have already completed and I do not feel like I actually learned anything that would help in nursing. I'm worried the specialty classes will just be papers and busy work, not actual learning. What were your concerns with Chamberlain? Do you like Resurrection's Program? I also live in Chicago, never heard of them until now so I started checking that out.

Have you taking Patho and Pharm. Did you have any exams in those coorifice?
