Is there anyone on here that is attending the Chamberlain College in Rancho Cordova CA?? The program is fairly new. I went to the orientation last month, and I really liked it. I know that a lot of private schools want to tell you what you want to hear, so I would love to hear from actual students. My coworker is attending Chamberlain in Las Vegas. Of course, he said it's difficult, but all nursing programs are. 😕

I go to Chamberlain College of Nursing in Atlanta, GA. People will say that a for-profit school is not worth the time/money/etc. However, I have found a few problems, but that's life in general. I am doing something that I want to do and its worth it to me. Anything worth doing in this life is worth the trouble. I wish you well and good luck.

@Valtoa:
There are a few unbiased ways to evaluate any schools and I have found that no amount of counsel will dissuade anyone who is bound and determined to go to any school of their choice. So take what I'm about to say with a grain of salt but understand that while we don't know each other, I do have your best interests at heart.
1. One of the least objective ways to look at a $100, 000 investement is to ask someone how they like a school. Everyone's financial situation is different and their impressions of a school may not be applicable to yours.
2. Have you looked at other schools such as publicly sponsored colleges or community colleges. Even with waiting lists you could save a lot of money.
3. You should know that Chamberlain is a brand of DeVry and under investegation by the Feds for deceptive advertising among other things in the recent past. (Wikipedia).
4. Chamberlain will require you to sign a arbitration agreement upon condition of enrollment. This will negate your ability to sue them in a court of law and be heard by a jury of your peers if you believe they have not lived up to their promises.
5. Collegescorecard.edu.gov is a good starting point to evaluate schools. Most Chamberlain schools are listed but they curiously leave out graduation and retention rates. These values are important.
6.Accredidation is no indicator of the quality of any school, just an indication that they have met minimum quality standards.
7. NYCLEX pass rates are also of minimal help in evaluating the school if you don't know what their grad and retention rates are.
8. Open houses are a big marketing event for any school so you will always initially get the sugar-coat at that time.
9. Go on line and try to thoroughly vet Devry (Chamberlain) and you may be surprised what the recruiters don't tell but are crucial to your making an informed decision that could fundamentally change your life one way or the other.
