Hi Everyone,
I have applied to Chamberlain College in Phoenix for the March 2011 start date! So far most of my credits have transferred. I will be taking my HESI a2 exam this next Tuesday! I just have a couple questions:
-How do you like Chamberlain Phoenix so far, is it worth the money?
-Did you find out if you were accepted right after you completed the HESI a2 exam or did you have to wait?
-What was the application process like, did you have an interview etc?
-How was the HESI exam in your opinion, do you have to have a 75% to get in, what if your score is lower, is there a chance of getting in?
Anyone who knows I would greatly appreciate any info on this school and your experience thus far! Thank you so much and happy holidays!! :)
I am sure you will get it! You have a great gpa and hesi score! Have you heard from anyone who has graduated from the program?
Thank you that's encouraging! And no I haven't. Since I live out of Arizona no one here really knows of Chamberlain. I've been trying to find someone who's been in the program but not much luck there.

Hello, there has only been 4 graduating classes so far. The school has been open since 2008. Most of the people pass NCLEX on the first try (I'm not sure what the pass rate is) It was 100% for a little while, the first few graduating classes. We take HESI finals at the end of each nursing session (every 8 weeks) They are usually a good portion of the grade. I graduate in October :) it's been a rough couple of years but I think they are working their problems out. We have a tutoring center with 2 RN's, peer tutors and computers filled with practice questions. That will be your life saver in this program. Do every practice question you can get your hands on. Let me know if you have any questions I will be glad to answer.
Hello, I am new to this. I have been taking pre reqs at the community college and have all that I need for there, but I am not wanting to wait. What other additional pre reqs does Chamberlain require that community colleges don't? I was also looking at GCU, they require A LOT more than what I have. Basically just wanting the quickest route.

Hi Dixie, I can send you the link to the required classes. I took all but 2 pre-reqs at MCC and I did not want to wait on their 2 yr list either. Chamberlain is very expensive but if you looked at GCU then you know that. It's a bachelor's program and that seems to be a plus as a new grad. Good luck :)

Also it's year round too. But with all your re-reqs done and you don't fail a class, you'll be done in two years - the time you'd be wasting waiting to get into the MCC program.
thank you for all the awesome information hope32. i have most of the pre reqs done it looks like. have you found that it is a reputable school when looking for a job? it seems like it i just hadn't even heard about it until recently. seems like a great option i am definitely going to look into it.
Congrats to everyone on your acceptance, I am looking to apply for the spring 2012 semester at the Phoenix location for Chamberlain. I currently live in MI, no children and not married, Ive had my life's issues but I am determined not to let my life's issues have me! All I have ever wanted to become was a nurse, but nursing schools these days are hard to get into. My gpa unfortunately is not the greatest but I am confident I can score high on the Hesi in attempts to prove myself worthy. If/when I am accepted, I am willing to drop everything which is my job that I hate (but I am grateful to have :)) and am catching a one way ticket to follow my dreams of being a nurse. I am trying to get an early start on studying, do you remember what sections were covered? are there certain areas that count more than others i.e math vocab, English, critical thinking etc? Is there a critical thinking portion? how was that , how long is the test, do you get to know your score the same day??How soon did you hear back about your admissions, Is there an academic adviser that anyone can recommend to me for the Phoenix location, How do you like being in the program thus far , Anyone with info for Chamberlain Nursing Phoenix location from 2010 to present I would greatly appreciate any information please and thank you!! Again Congratulations to everyone accepted into a nursing program

Hi Ms. Harris,
I was accepted for October 2011 start! As far as the HESI goes, I recommend you buy the review book, it's also available online, everything you need to know is on it! If you study that you will do well! I didn't study the first time and got an overall of 73% when you need a 75% to get in, so I got the study guide and retook it and got an overall 86% the second time. The only sections that are graded are reading, vocab, grammar, and math (you can use a calculator). You also have to take chemistry, anatomy , and physiology sections, but they don't count those into your score. I got a 60% in those sections. There is no critical thinking from what I can remember. Don't worry about your gpa, mine was a 2.76 and I got in. I think as long as you do well on the HESI and have a minimum gpa of 2.74 you should get in. Call your adviser as soon as your done with the test and she will tell you your overall score. Carie Powers is the Director of Admissions and is very helpful, she will help you with what ever you need! Let me know if you have any more questions, I hope this was helpful, sounds like with your motivation and determination you are just about in :)!
