Hey guys!
I wanted to start a forum to connect with potential classmates. I just received my acceptance to Chamberlain College of nursing in Sacramento. Anyone else?!

FUTURE/PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS
I wanted to leave this comment for students that are considering Chamberlain University (specifically for Sacramento campus) that might be helpful in answering the questions that we all have as we are going through the process of applying. Excuse the lengthiness, but I am a person who loves some good details and I figure it could be super helpful for someone out there.
Preparing for the HESI:
I used the Mometrix HESI Secrets Study Guide and also the HESI Ed 4 Admission Assessment Elsevier (recommended book from the school). There are also free apps on iPhone for HESI prep (just search HESI). Get on quizlet and type in 'HESI' and there are hundreds of pre-made flashcards for you to use and they are extremely helpful.
I went into the HESI exam having not taken Biology since 10th grade (which was about 13 years ago, Chemistry, Anatomy or Physio. I just began Anatomy and Chem as I was preparing for the test and I solely relied on the books I mentioned for preparing for HESI and it was extremely helpful. I studied literally 6 hours, give or take a few hours, every single day for a little over a month while also working and going to school full time.
YOU CAN DO IT. I know it seems like a lot, but I promise if you commit yourself to learning what is inside that book, you will not only do well on the test, but you will learn a ton which is extremely valuable going into any nursing program.
PASSION LETTER
When you write your Passion Letter to the school (for your application), all I can say is don't google the right words to say. Speak from your heart. Sit with yourself and write down a letter as if you're just writing into a diary. Share your heart of hearts as to why you are wanting to become a nurse. It will be authentic and I truly believe authenticity will always set you apart.
WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT
I want to tell you future students, even future students at different colleges, not to let your past discourage you from pursuing your dream of becoming a nurse; or becoming anything for that matter. It was so, sooo hard for me to not try to research every single thing about the school and how other students performed or how my GPA stands against other people and how my HESI test score is... but comparing myself to others did nothing positive for me. It brought about a ton of unnecessary worry and late night googling that ultimately wasn't going to change anything (and resulted in less sleep which is never a win).
Be confident in who you are and what you bring to the table. Trust and know without any shadow of doubt that where you are supposed to end up, you 100% WILL end up there; regardless of where 'there' is. Trust YOUR process. Have faith in YOUR process. Celebrate small victories as well as the big ones. You got this!!!

Wonderfully said!! I’m happy to have met someone that also got accepted for September!! ? Maybe we’ll be in the same cohort depending on our schedules! I’m finished with all the pre reqs so my first session will be transition into nursing profession and humanities and then my second session will be NR222!
Hey there! Yah I'm not sure about what my schedule is going to look like. I'm assuming I'll know once I meet with them now that I'm accepted. I am taking 3 courses over the summer at my community college which will fulfill all or almost all of my electives and other pre-reqs. I still have to take A&P, Micro & Stats, (I'm taking chem now). Critical Reasoning, Ethics, Poly Sci I'm taking this summer so those will be done along with all the rest of my pre-reqs. So basically I'll be jumping into science.. fun, lol! Do you live locally in Sac? Congrats to you!!! So exciting.
@Lady2020 Hi there! Yes, there is a deadline to applying. From my understanding, (from what I heard in the info session), was that they continue to accept students (depending on test scores, GPA, academic history, and letter all the way until that point. I would call the school or the main number you can find on the website and see if 'applying' means just the literal application OR if it means having all the required things (HESI, transcripts, etc) completed and sent in. Either way, I know they don't accept everybody and the earlier that you apply, most likely the better.

Congrats to you too! So that makes 3 of us so far!
I am so excited! I never thought I would hear the day when I would say I want school to come faster lol. I think just waiting to get into a program for SO long has made me antsy. I’ve completed the first year of pre reqs so I should go straight into NR 103 first term and then NR 222 second term. Anyone else?
