Nursing Students Chamberlain College

Published

Hello everyone!I am new to this site : ). I got accepted into Chamberlain about a month ago for tr Oct.29th start date.. Which I'm super excited about!! I was just wondering if anyone knows how the schedule for the nursing classes work? Is it an all day think like 9-4 like I've heard or is it shorter? Reason I ask is because I have a 2 year old and with classes approaching soon I want to make sure everything is taken care of when it comes to child care and pick up times. Also, anyone else starting in October as well? I've read a lot of good things about Chamberlain. I can't wait to start!

If anyone has any info on my question....it would be greatly appreciated :)

If a student has a BAS degree already but is not an RN...does anyone know how many years it will take to do the nursing program at CC in order to earn a masters of nurse practioner degree? Not sure if they have an A.O. program like FIU where you do three semesters and can sit for the NCLEX. Hopefully CC has something similar :)

I know that the FNP program won't accept someone at Chamberlain without an active unrestricted RN license in the state of residence. Whether they'd do provisional acceptance... no clue. I think this is one of those "you need to talk to admissions" type of things.

Hello everyone! I know this post is super late, but i would appreciate any insight. I'm interested in attending Chamberlain and i would love to know where the current students do their clinical? How are the exams? What about math tests, is it 90% or greater to pass and can you use a calculator?

Okay... one question at a time...

Clinicals vary depending on what class you're in. Most clinical options center around the Memorial Hospital District. There are always a few options and when sign up opens 'faster fingers' wins. As an example, i did my fundamentals clinical at Memorial South, MedSurg at Memorial West (both times), Maternity at North West Medical Center, Peds at Joe Dimaggio.

Exams vary. Some are hard. Some aren't. All require study time.

Math tests... are 20 questions. Some require 18/20 to pass and some require 19/20 minimum to pass. Yes, you can use a calculator. No passing means no clinicals... you get three tries and then you fail the course. There is a math class for every class that has a clinical.

Anything else?

Thank you so much for your time, i really appreciate it!!!

In regards to clinical sites and having to choose quickly, is it just a few students per site? If so does a professor accompany each group?

What is the main book you study from for exams? Does the school use perry and pottet fundamentals of nursing?

How should i prepare for exams are they asked in nclex style questions?

For the math how much time are you given and is there weird school specific rounding rules we must follow?

My questions may seem very weird i apologize. Lol im a current broward college nursing student who is very interested in transitioning to another school.

I don't mind the questions. We used the Potter and Perry book for.. hrmm.. two classes. Fundamentals 1 & 2.. that was all. The book changes every class.... aside from one they've all been ebooks which has been pretty convenient for me.

Exams are all nclex style questions. How to prepare for the exams depends on the professor, to some degree. The powerpoints created for the classes tend to be extremely helpful, though.

The math tests were, I think, about an hour long. The questions say how they want the answers rounded though they expect you to know that you need to round for things like gtt/min (as an example).

Is this the only University you are interested in?

Its a top choice for me based on what I've read and researched so far but I'm definitely open to suggestions. Do you have any?

Has it been easy for those whom have graduated from Chamberlain to find a job ????

Are you inquiring about a BSN or RN to BSN? Take a look at this: http://chamberlain.edu/docs/default-source/financial-aid/tuition-and-fees-total-cost-calculations_july_2016.pdf

You can also do a google search for loan calculators. At 4.5% interest rate for the full $87K it is about $900-$1000 payments a month for 10 years
