Chamberlain college of nursing...arlington campus...

U.S.A. Virginia

I am looking into going to chamberlain at the arlington campus this fall...anyone else looking here or know much about the school? I just started looking into it and might go take a look around the school next week. I have heard mixed reviews about the school in general. Some love it some say the pass rates are low and it's a waste of money. Just trying to get a feel for what the school is really like. It's really the only nursing program close enough to me that is not a 4yr program. I LOVE the fact that they have a 3yr bachelors program which is what i had been looking for. Any advice/comments are appreciated!! Oh also any comments on the entrance exam?

Diamondhope,

I think you are covered as far as the accrediation that you were looking for. Chamberlain College of Nursing Arlington campus is now included in its grant of accreditation from the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). This follows the September 2010 approval to include the campus in Chamberlain's institutional accreditation from The Higher Learning Commission (HLC) of the North Central Association of College and Schools. CCNE is a national, autonomous accrediting agency. The Higher Learning Commission (HLC) and is a member of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, ncahlc.org. HLC is one of the six regional agencies that accredit U.S. colleges and universities at the institutional level. I have already taken the A2 testing and passed I am waiting to see if I have been accepted to the summer and to find out what classes I need to take. I have taken almost all the pre reqs so I am really excited to see how long it will take me to complete the school. If you think NOVA is bad try PGCC.

Youraremymiracle,

Are you a student at Chamberlain? I still have questions as to where are the clinicals and what are the hours? Why is it such a big secret lol ?

Hello everyone,

I actually met with an advisor at Chamberlain today (Addison, IL location) and was very impressed as well. For those that asked about clinicals, I asked the advisor that same question. He basically told me they have contracts with many hospitals in a 50 mile radius, so to me means a lot of hospitals, but did not ask specifically what hospitals.

This is my situation: As a couple of weeks ago I was at Waubonsee Community College's (WCC) nursing program, but I had to withdraw due to failing 2 exams in my OB class. I'm in the 2nd year of their nursing program... have 3 more classes to go before finishing. Their policy is if you withdraw from 2 classes for failing 2 exams in each you are dropped from the program and cannot reenter. But, one of my teachers told me that I can still petition because there is a chance they might allow me to come back, but it's not a guarantee. Since I don't know what my future will be with WCC I'm exploring other schools to see how many of my nursing credits are transferrable. Chamberlain stated that they do accept nursing credits but they'd have to review my transcripts first to make that determination.

Can anyone share the cost per semester for a full-time student? Thank you

Dcgirl01,

It's been a while since I logged in so I just saw your question. I am a student at CCN and I start on the 5th of July. I hope you make up your mind to join but if you have anymore questions feel free to ask as we go along. The clinicals aren't a secret. They have about 28 clinical sites. They are only using a few now because it's a new school. anyway, this semester (summer) the clinical sites will include Inova Fairfax, PG hospital and Children's NMC.

Miss M,

For a full-time student the tuition is $7800 or so. I know is slightly under $8000 per sem.

I have decided to start classes July 5th. Good luck to all!

I'll be starting at the Arlington location on July 5th as well! :yeah:

To those who have just gotten into Chamberlain, how was the application process? What was your GPA, Hesi score etc......?

I am also looking into this program, for fall 2011. Does anyone know when the application deadline is?

Ashley,

In my opinion, the app' process was very smooth. They have great advisors who are with you all the way. When you call they are glad to answer any of the questions you may have. I was applying for summer semester which starts July 5th. I began my process mid february, took all tests, e.g HESI, urine and drug test etc. I was done with all the procedures by April. You get conditional acceptance based on your scores/GPA/HESI and upon passing the urine and drug test that's when you get your final acceptance into the program. It's a step by step process but very easy. You sit for the HESI no more than 10 days after applying. I didn't know this until I applied. I barely had time to order the HESI book and study. The HESI isn't bad (I literally spent 7 hrs browsing through the book).

GPA 3.5

HESI score 92%

All prereqs done

If you have atleast a 3.0 GPA and HESI in the high 80s (HESI pssing score is 75%) then you should be hopeful.

Nurse wannabe,

They have ongoing application and ongoing selection. Fall semester starts October 24th. As long as you have what they need by then - HESI, you will be fine. You don't have to have certain pre-reqs before being accepted, you can finish (if you have any) your pre-reqs at Chamberlain at approx' $620 per credit. Feel free to as more questions.

hey you guys who started on July 5th, how is it going so far and when does the next class take in? an update on me: Im currently in a 7 week cna program that didnt end in time so i decided to start in the next cycle at chamberlain. Man cna work is hard, but I think its going to help me a lot with my bedside manner and in the arena of experience. Plus, Im trying to get a hospital job after I get my certification and get them to pay a portion for my RN classes~ have to save my pennies lol.

hey im trying to register for classes that will start on oct.24 i have an appt. wit the school on monday at 1pm and i just want to know where should i buy the study guide from that wont be so expensive since im not going to need it after that? i visited the school for an open house and i have my mind made up i love this school it is a 30 min drive from woodbridge,va but it sits well with me i love the places and options they had available for clinicals. i have a medical assistant cert. and i wanna do more i was busy taking care of everyone else and now its time for me to do what i always wanted to do i havent been in school since 2002 so im real nervous about the whole thing but i just need a guide that will help me and also not break my pockets...thanx

Hello,

Do you mind me asking where you took your CNA course. I'll be starting an evening course on Sept 13th with the American Red Cross. I'm taking pre-reqs at Nova currently. Like everyone else Nova's admissions processs to any of their medical programs is so discouraging. I did an orientation with Chamberlain over a year ago but, was hesistant about the school b/c no one had heard of them. I also called GMU and asked about obtaining a Master's once I'd finished at Chamberlain and they said they'd never heard of it.I'm hoping that has changed now:[anb]:
