Nursing Students Chamberlain College

Anyone know anything about this place?

When I went to an open house they said they DO NOT compare applications, and that they look at each application on an individual basis... so competitive? idk about that! But good job on your scores that's awesome :)

You are right, they do not compare applications. It's not getting harder for people to get in because of the competition. One of my clinical instructors is on the admissions committee and she said the problem is they were letting in too many people that didn't have good enough grades or study habits which led to A LOT of people failing classes. Like, some people were failing Fundamentals session A....that is a class no one in nursing school should fail. The ones who barely managed to pass with a 76% are now failing miserably in med surg. This looks really bad on the school even if they have some great teachers. So, now getting accepted is getting harder because of that. So really you aren't competing with anyone it all depends on your grades.

I don't understand why they even make people take the A2 exam. It is a really simple test and it does not prove that you are ready for nursing school at all. The Nursing tests are NOTHING compared to the A2. I know a lot of people that got high 90s on the A2 and failed out or are currently failing classes.

Honestly it all depends. If you meet the minimum GPA requirements then you have a chance. They don't only look at that. They look at your GPA, your A2 exam, if you dropped any classes at your other school, how many classes you failed, etc. They not only want to see if you have the grade to get in but they also want to see if you will take the program seriously. I know some people that didn't get in because they had drops on their record.

Do they look at your current GPA or your overall GPA? I have a Ba deegree from 2006, but since then I have re-taken some classes to score a higher grade and I want to make sure they take that into consideration.

Hi guys,

I just took the hesi today. Got a 74.5 =( Im scared it's not good enough. I'm applying for summer 12. i heard they average your english and math. Which i scored a 90 and 79 % in. I hope I'm ok. I also have a 2.75 when Josh Ryan calculated my GPA from my community college and my time at North Park. Hopefully I get in. Should I take the exam again? I will be heartbroken if I didn't get in. My girlfriend just graduated from this school and she said summer is the easiest to get into. I hope she's right. I need a miracle.

c350: I think the minimum hesi score you can get is a 75%...

But yes, I think that you should re-take it just to get .5 more...:)

Just to let you know, they have a waiting list now.

They have a waiting list?! what? how do you know?

letters for spring 2012 are being sent out to the top candidates who applied.

you should have received an e-mail with the subject

"shipping confirmation for chamberlain - order number

[color=#333333]"[color=#333333]

inside the e-mail you'd find

"addison phase 1 academic eligibility pre enrollment letter (pre-licensure) addison #10 envelopes"

in the letter it says you'll be expecting a call soon from your admission advisor regarding the drug and background tests. they do have a waitlist and it is harder to get into chamberlain now.

me and a bunch of classmates applied all with a 3.5+ gpa and all scored in the 90s on the hesi. a bunch of people i also know scored in the 90s with very similar gpas. its getting competitive people!

I have emailed chamberlain to clarify that there was a waiting list and it is NOT true this is what they told me:

"thanks for your interest! Chamberlain does not have a waiting list. Chamberlain has three opportunities for students to apply-- summer, fall and spring. We accept applications for the upcoming two semesters. The specific start each campus is accepting applications for will depend on the location or state the campus is located. Some of the Chamberlain campuses have a cap for each semester, which are determined by the State Board of Nursing"

Lol. I don't know why they would lie to you people but they do have a waiting list now. I know many people who work there that confirmed it and I know someone who applied and they told her she would be on the waiting list and would have to wait for the July semester.

As for the person saying it is competitive now. Stop. It is far from competitive which is why this school is now so laughable to so many. We have so many students failing, cheating, GOOD teachers getting fired because class averages are so low even though it is these students fault, etc.

All this school cares about is making a lot of nurses not good nurses. I hope there will be jobs out there by the time I graduate because the rate they are going I doubt there will.
