Hello all:
I tried to look for this information on the NJ BON site, but couldn't find it. I am starting clinicals next year. Unfortunately, NY no longer allows RN students to sit for the PN exam. I was wondering if NJ allows this. I ask because I was thinking of taking the PN exam in NJ, then transferring it to NY, so I can work as an LPN while I finish my last year of school. Thanks in advance for your help.

Neither NJ nor PA has permitted RN students to obtain PN license in past 25 yrs I've been RN as graduation from School of Nursing is required.
THERE ARE THREE (3) ELEMENTS THAT ARE REQUIRED FOR LICENSURE AS A NURSE IN NEW JERSEY:
1. Graduation from an approved school for professional nursing or practical nursing;
2. Criminal History Background Check clearance; and
3. Passing the appropriate NCLEX licensing examination.
