Chaffey College Nursing Program( Rancho Cucamonga)

U.S.A. California

Published

Hi everyone,

After lurking on here for a while I have finally made my first post :). I just applied to Chaffey's ADN program this past October, however I have a couple of questions to anyone familiar with the program. Does Chaffey or any Nursing program notify those students who were accepted to the program by mail BEFORE the rest of the applicants? If so should I expect the worst if my letter comes later than sooner? The reason I ask this is because I want to still be hopeful if I have not received my letter by a certain time. The Nursing office did mention that all applicants would be notified by either late Nov. or early Dec. I can't recall. This RN program is my only option at the moment so I am going crazy with this wait period. Any information that you all can provide is appreciated.

Congratulations to all who has been accepted to Chaffey"s nursing program!! Yayyy!! I am looking to apply Spring 2012. Did you find it difficult to get accepted?? I plan to apply to a few different programs but I would really like to attend Chaffey's. Any advice?? Thanks!

Good Luck in applying to different programs.... I applied once before, fall of 2010 and I did not get accepted and the next application date was April, which I applied and got accepted, so for me, I only had to apply twice. Ive known others who have applied several different times and still waited semester after semester. Quiet honestly, I dont know how the whole process goes, Ive heard it is lottery, and then Ive heard they go through and pick out certain applicants, so who knows. The only thing you can do is make sure all your grades are there and classes completed and cross your fingers. Good Luck!

Did you have all of your classes complete? Meaning not just your pre-req's but all the other required classes to earn your AA. Have you been going to Chaffey or were you taking classes elsewhere? If you have been attending Chaffey who was your Micro instructor? Sorry for so many questions i'm just curious about others who are going thru the same process as me. I only have Micro left to do and that's why I will be applying in Spring. Congratulations again and I hope you really enjoy the program :D! I have heard stories of how hard it is, even one where the student dropped out in the 3rd semester!! which I thought was crazy cause your almost done.

I got accepted the first time around at chaffey. I took about 30 units at chaffey and other classes at whatever community college or university I could find open spots. I took micro at csusb last summer. I was told by a counselor that it is lottery but people who live in the district, met minimum gpa for all courses required for the nursing program (there is a list online) and have the all or most prerequisite complete for there AA degree get priority. I met all those requirements and was chosen the first time I applied.

Good luck

Well that sounds encouraging!! I have 47 credits so far at Chaffey without having taken Micro yet. I too live in the district which I do know that they prefer someone who lives close enough to be able to make it to class on time. Thank you so much for responding! :)

And congratulations to you also!!! It must feel great to be selected the first time. I can only imagine how frustrating it is having to reapply.

Hi Lanette522

would you mind to tell me what was your GPA :( Im very worried right now because Chaffey is the only that i applied to.

I know its personal but if you can help me, i'll be very grateful. Thank you so much Lanette

Do you like being brow beat ? How about belittled ? Do you thrive on being reminded that your mistakes could cost an instructor their license if you make a mistake ? Do you like being treated like a child, being reminded that you don't know anything but being hammered as if you're an experienced nurse ? If you said yes, then Chaffey college is for you.

Those of you that have been exposed to the arrogance of the Chaffey nursing faculty, how are you liking that now ? Just a heads up for anyone that has applied to programs other than Chaffey, reconsider choosing another school, especially if you're an older adult. I thought that I was just being paranoid until a younger student as well as older students made the observation that the faculty hammers older students with the intent of getting rid of them.

Here's an inside tip, contrary to what you've heard, the Chaffey college program isn't that great. In fact, Chaffey students are advising others that want to get into nursing to choose other schools. Chaffey says that they are comparable to a BSN. Well, why get a fake one when you can spend the same amount of years and get a REAL one ?

In all seriousness ladies and gentleman, if you haven't started or have a choice between Chaffey and another school, choose the other school. Trust me when I say, I walked away with the intent of going somewhere else. I had it with their BS. I went there to learn, not put up with the garbage they dish out. If you choose to go to Chaffey, you have only yourself to blame when you wish that you would have gone somewhere else. You've been warned.

Hi...I noticed you didn't get a reply but I am currently in the program myself and I will say that as long as you meet the min requirements you will be considered for the program. Good Luck!!!

Hello, are you in your first semester at Chaffey? I'm accepted for Spring 2014 ADN program and I was wondering what you thought of Chaffey so far. Any type of advice, thoughts or comments would be so much appreciated. I'm very nervous about starting!!

Congrats!!! I am actually in my 3rd semester. I love Chaffey. I always knew that I would end up in their program. Yes its tough but I didnt expect it to be easy. There is a reason why Chaffey has a 100 percent pass rate on the NLCEX. As far as what you might have heard from other students...dont listen to what they say. I have never had a bad experience so far. I study hard and alot. Yes you do have those students that say a lot of negative things and I always wonder where or why they think that way. Message me if u have any questions and I will answer as best as I can. By the time you start I will be starting 4th semester.

Wow you're going onto your 4th semester? That's amazing, you must be so excited! And yes, I do hear a ton of negative things about Chaffey but I wonder how much of it is actually true. Many people say that only about 50% of the class end up graduating, while the others get dropped or drop themselves. I know I can't let what people say get to me, but if I'm going to be honest it does intimidate me a bit! I'll definitely message you if I have any further questions, thanks so much for replying!
