Hello everyone.
I'm a nurse from Thailand and I'd like to practice in Virginia. I looked for details about foreign nurses on VA website but it barely has information about what their requirement are for nurses who graduated from outside the U.S. I used to work in ICU-MED for about 5 years in Thailand before I moved to the states. I really want to start working here but still confuse about the requirement. I'm a greencard holder so I'm eligible to work and already have SSN.
My question is
Does anyone know how many scores of TOEFL that Virginia needs and Do they need speaking part 26+?
My TOEFL score is 102 but I got 24 in speaking. I applied CES with English Language Proficiency report and CGFNS got every document that they need except TOEFL score since I am not sure what score that they are looking for.
I saw comments in this board (allnurses) saying that VA doesn't need speaking 26 but the comments were in 2011 so I don't know if the rule already changed or not.
Thank You for answering my question, I sincerely appreciate it.

Per the board, they want foreign educated graduates to contact them first. That information is on their site: Virginia Board of Nursing Forms and Applications
Have you contacted the board as they request?

First of all, thank you so much for replying my question. I called them before I stared the process and they told me to contact with CFGNS and I did. I applied CES with with English Language Proficiency report. CGFNS is waiting for my TOEFL score but I don't know for sure how much score CGFNS needs that will consider PASS the English Language Proficiency. I tried to call CGFNS and VA board to find out but still did not get the answer because the people who I talked to on the phone didn't have this knowledge. I'm still trying to call and email them hoping that I will get the answer soon.

Hi. Did you find any information regarding the required TOEFL score by the VA BON and CGFNS? I am endorsing my RN license to VA, and I am a foreign-educated nurse. I already started my CES application with CGFNS. But I just took the TOEFL exam today so I still need to wait for the results. Thank you!
Hi. So VA BON needs TOEFL score 83+ and speaking part 26+ in order to be able to practice in VA.
I'm working to get TOEFL score to meet the requirement as well. Let me know if you have any questions.

Hi, I also want to practice in Virginia. Do you apply for the initial RN license or the endorsement (transfer license )?
I already got NY LICENSE, but l am not sure whether I also need the speaking requirement.....
Hi I’m holding both Virginia and DC license however both of the states required TOEFL score. You can try to endorse to see if they ask for TOEFL score or not.
