Not from your state, but I was finding the same problem. Do you work in a hospital? I emailed the educator who has hooked me up with lots of websites for CEU. Try Pearlsreview. It's not free, but it is recommended by a lot of people here and also my UBE. It seems to be a popular site and hopefully will be good in IL.
My understanding is that Illinois, like most other states, does not specifically approve CEU. As long as it's approved by the ANA or any other state, we should be fine. Imagine the chaos if every educator had to apply for approval from all 50 states!
Just remember to keep a log. I keep all mine, and get some free ceu on medscape.com
If you are a member of ANA there are free CEU's available on their web site. Any CEU that is ANCC is able to be used in most states as it is from the American Nurses Credentialing Center division of ANA. Some nursing boards offer to credential companies offering CEU's these are not recognized by states other than the state doing the credentialing. Confusing, :confused:you bet. I make sure ALL my CEUs are ANCC so there is never a question. If you ask me it's well worth the membership in ANA to get them. There are quite a few free ones available to members.
All State Boards of Nursing have a list of approved agencies that may offer CEU programs on their website for nurses. Always check with the website of your state board of nursing each year as these providers of continuing education must be re certified yearly. Don't take the word of the provider.
Best wishes!

I am a RN in illinois and im somewhat confused about the CEU process. I know that i need 20 however im unsure how I know if they are approved for IL? Ive completed several free ones online that say they are approved by california board of registered nursing and give a provider number but none say IL? Also at work we have to do these silverchair learning tests and many of those say:
So my question is are these valid for illinois nurses or do i need to continue to search for ones that actually say il approved(cause I have not found any so far) Thanks in advance!!!
