I recently attended a dinner dance fund raising event and met a lot of caregivers (some undocumented aliens) who call themselves CAREGIVERS OR CERTIFIED CARE PRACTIONERS in their business cards.....is this a new name for CAREGIVERS OR CNA? They even have their patients sit with them at the dinner dance event....:smokin:

Thanks for your input:nurse:Happy ThanksGiving to all

There is no "Certification" test available so they can say certified but certified at what??? This link is to the caregivers site. This is about non formally educated or trained individuals caring for family or hired to care for someone in the home "professional" CNA and nurses (LPN/RN). I have run into this before with family. Someone represented themself as a "Certified Care Giver" my Aunt hired her and was very proud that she got such a great price for G-ma. Somehow they are able to get reimbursement from medicare for expenses related for care and they they pay the "caregiver". When I called the "Certified" person out they admitted that they have been doing this for a long time and know wha they are doing and the need no "schooling" to prove it.

They are hired attendants falsely representing themselves as "certified personel". I think I'm going to look this up further.....:smokin:

My husband had surgery this past week and the guy who admitted him, started his IV, flushed his foley, D/C'd it then discharged him was a "certified care partner". Me being me, I asked "what on earth is a certified care partner?". He said "I'm a souped up CNA. I'm also an EMT and a paramedic. I'm going to nursing school".

Well, that was news to me. The RN assigned to my husband did absolutely nothing except medication reconciliation. The"care partner" was very good, mad skills, but it gave me pause.

I have searched for the registry of "Certified" care partners. Who's certifying them? There is no such animal that exists that i can find yet. An EMT, EMT-P, and a CNA? Suspicious and expensive for the bedside outside of the ED....hummmm......but these economic times are leaving many unemployed taking different jobs.

I'm going to be interested at further responses.

I did a wike on CERTIFIED CARE PRACTITIONER and nothing on it....I know most of them are LIVE IN CAREGIVERS but they advertise themselves as CCP .....the event i attended was like a fashion extravaganza for the LIVE IN CAREGIVERS/ CERTIFIED CARE PRACTIONER dressed to the max like going to the OSCARS or LADY GAGA and they also brought their patients with them too wearing gowns for this black tie event...I heard they dont pay taxes and their money is under the table....

Aint that something?:eek::eek: I guess i learn something new everyday...

thanks for your replies

Okay so according to the OP, CCPs are undocumented aliens, dont pay taxes and get paid in cash. Got ya!
