I received my letter yesterday that I am in for the Fall '09 or Spring '10 class!
I am taking the TEAS on the 17th. They do a randomized lottery and haven't revealed the order of our places (which decide the class). It was the last of 5 ADN community college programs I've applied to and got it on the first chance drawing. Weird, but I'll take it! It would be nice to get picked in the Golden West or Saddleback (my A&P Cs killed me for a straight GPA shot there) lotteries because they are a LOT closer to me with much nicer clinical sites, but I will take what I can get since it's only a means to the end!
Anyone else hear from Cerritos?
(posted here since this seems to be the place to celebrate and query acceptances versus the state forum)
Apgar10, really? What I interpreted from the letter was that once I take the test and pass, I'll be "qualified for possible admission". So I just assumed if I take the test, then I'll be put in the lottery. But if what you said is true, I better start studying!! Thanks!
When I called to schedule my test I asked specifically if by taking the TEAS test I would be tossed into the lottery for the final selection according to the possible admission language all over the paper. I was told that the lottery had been done and I had received the letter because the TEAS was my last step in the admissions process. In another phone call for a separate issue I was told there will be an orientation later this month and that those who pass the TEAS will be organized into the Fall '09 and Spring '10 classes by mid-May.
And yes the 67% is a cumulative score.
ok so basically this is how it goes:
there are about 400+ students that applied to the program
they randomly selected and picked the top 200 students
within that top 200 students they already picked 110 that
will be starting in either (the first 50)
fall '09 or spring '10 (the other 60).
ofcourse we need to pass the teas with at least a 67%
if we dont make it then they let us sign up to a remediation class (i dont really know much about it but thats whats gonna happen). we have to pass the teas no matter what to begin the program but that doesnt mean that you are admitted!!!!! bec. AGAIN they already have a list of that 110 students!! The teas was not bad, i actually spent more time stressing than studying LOL but it is about 31/2 hours so it gets a bit tiring ... with that being said, having a good night's sleep is very important and remember ... you only knw what you know dont try to cram info to the very last min. and risk forgetting the stuff YOU DO KNOW!!! plus it should be things you already learned. I did worst in the scientific reasoning part but it really didnt matter bec. i did so well in the english and reading part (average for math). In myopinion, the reading and english parts are very easy ... math = just review the ati practice booklet and ul do fine... science is a bit challenging. but im sure u guys do good, i mean if i did it, i really dont see a reason why u guys cant! :)
anyway, the dean told me im starting in the fall; so ill see you guys april27 for the orientationn :)
God bless
right after I finished the teas (exhausted) the dean told me
that im admitted! funny story......
i was like admitted? what does that mean...
she probably thought i was slow
and she got kinda irritated so i was like....
'oh okay' then when i got out of the computer
lab.. i couldnt stop thinking about it...
so i called the nursing department and i told them
what the dean told me and so she checked the
list and she told me my rank (as far as the 110
students that will be admitted).
Hmm I don't think she did. I was waiting for my score to pop up and she came by and gave me the orientation paper and told me my score, since mine wasn't loading. And that was pretty much it. But I think I was the first one to leave so maybe she didn't start telling people their ranks until lateR? (hopefully that's it! hehe)

The woman who scheduled my exam said you don't get a letter telling you to take the TEAS unless you've been selected for the program. Of course, we need to pass the test to be in for sure.
