Centennial College RPN workshop in July

Published

I'm starting the RPN Flex program in September at Centennial College.

I received an email saying that they have a RPN workshop every wednesday evenings (6pm-9pm) at the morning side campus for three weeks in July.

I was just wondering if anyone else is going to RPN at Centennial and will be attending the workshop. it sounds really beneficial and i'm looking forward to going, was hoping to maybe get in touch with some other people who may be attending :)

can you elaborate on what the workshops will be covering and how to enroll?? i have a friend (neighbor 2 doors down) who may want to go...thanks

I received an email regarding the workshop.

I'll copy and paste it :)

I got that email too, I'll be at the workshops.

I believe they are only for people who have already been accepted... there are separate workshops for enrollment.

I am going to the workshops tho... found the ones for pre-health pretty helpful!

cool!

I'm really looking forward to it. I've heard good things about the workshop and that it's very beneficial. Are going to the full RPN program or the Flex program?

I'll be starting the Flex program in September.

I've taken some classes online and am currently taking comm 170 at night, just to lighten my work load for september.

Just found this site recently!

I've been attending the workshops and next Wednesday is the last day. Maybe we can meet up next Wednesday?

I am also going into the flexible program. Does anyone happen to know if we need every textbook off the list they gave us? Will we actually use them?

I've been attending the workshops as well.

What's on the list?

Off the top of my head, fundamental of nursing, anatomy is a must.

The calculation software, you can 'borrow' your friends since you can just input your name in the end.

Master student, most of my peers just photocopies the exercise needed and hands them in since our teacher allows it.

This is for the Flexible program which has less courses a semester than the regular. There is:

-Interpersonal Communication: Relating to others

-Fundamentals of Canadian Nursing: Concepts, process and practice

-Becoming a Master Student

-Writing for Canadian Health Professionals

-Understanding Human Anatomy and Physiology

-Test Success: Test taking techniques for beginning nursing students

-Medical Dictionary

You probably don't need:

Writing for Canadian Health Professional

Test Success: Test taking techniques for beginning nursing students

Medical Dictionary

Only because I've never had to use these books before, but as the name of the book suggests, it could be beneficial for you to have it. Medical Dictionary for sure you don't need it though, as you can google most of the content.

Fundamental of Nursing is recommended to be bought new with the online access code, since the code alone, if i remember correctly, is around $70. This is also the bible for the next 2 years in the program.

Interpersonal Communication, Becoming a Master Student you would need for Field class, but as I have mentioned before, my teacher allowed us to photocopy and hand in assignments out of the Master Student book. Otherwise, he/she would expect you to rip out pages in the book and hand them in.

Understanding Human Anatomy and Physiology is another reference book you should keep after you're done with the Anatomy class the coming term. It helps with Patho class as well.
