Just thought it would be helpful to post a new thread for the upcoming new grad program starting this summer. I've seen the thread for the program last year and wanted to see if anyone was one of the first 250 who applied for it this year. I applied for cohort #1 and got a phone interview last week and the gentleman said that I'd receive an e-mail within 1-2 weeks. I've also heard of people getting rejection emails as well without a phone interview. Anyone have additional info they'd like to share? Good luck to all us new grads out there!
I would love to hear what you mean by "general stuff" -- are you talking general information about us, the applicants (go over resume, experience, etc.), or general as in, "Why do you want to work at Cedars Sinai?" ...Or, something else, like behavioral (not scenario) questions? Any and all insight would be very, very appreciated. Thank you!

The "Why you want to work here" is definitely in there. That's how it usually is in all hospitals. Questions like what stands you out between the rest, etc. etc. I was not asked behavioral or scenarios. I can't stay too much but they might ask different questions as well. I have a colleague who was asked a question that I was not asked and another one that lasted 15 minutes long. Good luck! :)
Thanks so much sharker! This is my first "bite" from a hospital and I want to make sure I'm prepared when I talk to them. Like gastro, I missed the call, and when I called back there was no answer. I think we're all desperate (this whole process is ROUGH!) and I appreciate you sharing info :) And... good luck to everybody out there!!
Had my phone screen today too. I don't know why over the phone is almost harder than in person! I'm sure I rambled on a little too much. The recruiter told me that they were trying to finish up phone screens today, then would be sending out emails inviting those who are moving on to an open house interview on 5/15; if you make it past the 5/15 interview, the final round of interviews is happening on 5/22. Let's all keep our fingers crossed for each other that we all do well!
Yup I was told they would email us by tomorrow whether or not we moved in for 5/15! And I'm not sure if the person who called was a recruiter? He told me he was given my name and number to call and ask me some questions and he would transcribe the answers. Hopefully he understood what I was saying! Lol
Gastro, I got a call back after leaving a message yesterday, so I think you will too. (I, too, was concerned that they would just leave me in the dust.) It just sounds like they have a long list to go through. The frustrating thing is that you have to be "on" whenever they call. I actually had to cut my call short this afternoon because I was nannying a very very active toddler, and I was just too distracted. I explained this to the woman at the beginning of the call, so at least she knew why I had to hang up so quickly, but I don't think it reflected well upon me. I actually canceled nannying tomorrow so that I can give this phone screen my undivided attention. Goodness goodness...
Anyways, best of luck to you!
