Cedars-Sinai New Grad Program Summer 2010

Just wanted to start a thread for Cedars 2010 Grad program. Anyone heard back yet? What are your stats?

I am so nervous about the Cedars interview on Wed! The email says to choose only ONE area of interest and I have noticed for other New Grad programs if you happen to choose the ONE unit they aren't trying to fill, you're out of luck... it seems so harsh - even if you give a good interview - it seems like you 'lose' before you even get a chance... does that seem accurate to you?

Anyway - I'm super nervous- especially about a clinical Q, I feel like I freeze and forget everything! I plan to brush up on my ACLS and PALS, but any advice...? I can get PM but cant yet respond - I think I need a few more posts! haha.... Im getting there....

Thank you for your posts on this - its nice to hear your experience so it wont be a total surprise on that day!

Haha yes! Still very nervous! I'm trying to come up with answers to possible interview questions to prepare, but it's making me even more nervous. Haha it's so hard when you have no idea what you're going up against.

For everybody else: does anybody know how long the open house interview will be? One of the students who was precepting in the unit I precepted in at Cedars told me that the open house took hours! She said her appointment was at 12, and she didn't ge to leave until 6.

I was told that it will be a 1:1 interview with a manager and to expect to be there for at least 3 hours. Yikes! Good luck to all of us.

3 hours? Is it more than one interview? of are they going to let us know the results asap?

1on1? which means that a lot of it will come down to luck? being interviewed by someone who grades easier vs. stricter?

*looks like i'll have to bring my lucky charms

cedars-sinai has launched an innovative graduate nurse residency program that allows recent rn graduates to jumpstart their careers through an intensive training experience. using technology, the program will expand nurses' opportunities for hands-on clinical practice, allowing them to gain valuable clinical experience while enhancing their decision-making and critical thinking skills.

our program goals

* introduce the new graduate nurses to a medical surgical unit and various other clinical settings as deemed necessary.

* to allow graduate nurses time to gradually assume the duties and responsibilities which accompany her/his new role under the direction and guidance of a preceptor and other members of the healthcare team.

* to assist graduate nurses with professional goal setting in an effort to maximize the clinical learning experiences.

* to familiarize graduate nurses with cedars-sinai medical center nursing policies and procedures.

* to offer graduate nurses the opportunity to experience didactic and practical experiences that cover various topics related to her/his role as a provider of nursing care.

* to promote critical thinking in graduate nurses.
