CCSF 2021

Published

Hello everyone,

Is anyone else applying to CCSF for 2021? Their application period is opening up on the 20th of January.

Also, if you are/have been a nursing student at CCSF please let us know about your experience with this program, multi criteria points, clinical, etc. I am super curious and would greatly appreciate it.

Sergio had great questions. I also wanted to know how many of the class are also enrolled in the concurrent BSN at SFSU? Do most students make it through the program? Does it feel like the faculty are there to help you and support you? During your "breaks" in between semesters (Summer, Winter) do you have additional schoolwork or can you really take time to relax between? What is your best advice for someone who might start Fall 2021?Thanks so much!

I would check out this link for the ADN to BSN for CCSF and SFSU. I'mhttp://bulletin.sfsu.edu/colleges/health-social-sciences/nursing/bs-rns/ccsfroadmap/

Im a Spring start so will apply in Aug to both school school program. And hope to start in Spring of 2022 and be done with BSN in Spring 2023 along with Summer class in 2022 at sfsu.

I do feel like we are given all the information we need to do well. They want us to succeed and that is clear in my opinion. There is just alot of things to do in short time frames, alot of things expected to have done. Thing are currently with lectures via zoom and in person for skills and clinical along with doing things for skills online before coming.

I'm Summer/Winter I don't have school work to do for the RN program at CCSF. Unless I needed additional classes to graduate or apply to SFSU.

For fall start I would brush up on my drug dosage math. Not to hard but just refresh as well as practice some medical terminology and relax. Specially relax before starting.

Thank you so much!

How satisfied are you with the program and the instructors?

Do you feel they do s good job of teaching you and testing you fairly?

What does s typical "busy" day look like for you?

I enjoy the faculty and feel like our questions are answered. They have had to adapt parts of the program to fit a zoom lecture platform, with skills and clinical in person. They do a good job of covering information that is on the test. Helps that lectures are recorded and can re listen.

The first 4 weeks my days  for lectures and skills were:

Mon- skills lab 1040-1 and pharm 3-5 with after dinner study.

Tues- fundamentals 8-11 and study couple hours after dinner

Wed- 7-4 lectures and skills

Thur 7-4 lectures and skill

Fri-Sun prepping for exam on Tuesday.

Now that's its past those 4 weeks.

Same schedule for Mon evening study

TUE- lecture 8-11 then go to hospital in afternoon spend 1-2 hours getting info to go home and prep info to present the next morning.

WED clinical 630-330 now go home home do HW and exam prep. (Clinical could be on Wed or Thurs, always have to prelab at hospital day before, after weeks of clinical we start vsim and next group starts clinical. Vsim is Wed, Thur, or Fri 7-3ish.

I highly recommend not working or only working part time. We have been told that our schedules can change at last min notice.

Thur to Sun I can now work and study or if not working I study.

@BLazingBetty836 you're so awesome! Thank you for helping us!

Hey everyone, I have a question regarding admissions. I don't remember at any point during the application it asking whether we wanted to apply for Fall or Spring. How is that decided?

I think they said they ranked the applicants by points; Top 50 get into fall and 51-100 get Spring

Hey guys ! I realized that its 74 points total for ADN programm , I am just wondering maybe someone know how many points will be the good chances to get into the programm ? I applied  to the ADN hopefully will get into ADN programm at CCSF also  I graduated LVN through CCSF in 2015 great clinical sites and very knowledgeable teachers

I think it's 100 points total https://www.ccsf.edu/sites/default/files/2021/document/multi_criteria_worksheet_updated_jan2021_ADA.docx

I'm not sure what they admitted with last year, I asked during the info session and they said it changes every year but somewhere in the 70s. I have 86 so hopefully it's enough! Happy to hear you liked the LVN program before, that's reassuring. Good luck!

Hi BLazingBetty836,

On CCSF RN website it says If applicant is selected for admission, applicant need to go under criminal background check and urine test. Did you also need vaccination record before starting program? Is it only those 3 requirements need to be completed before starting? Is there more things that they require other than those? When was the due date for those requirements? Due to family emergency I may not be in U.S. when I hear back from CCSF. I am thinking to prepare those requirements before I leave here. I appreciate your help!

So yes they will run a background check and you will have to drug test. The immunization isn't just giving record of vaccines. It's going to doctor to have blood work done to check the titers of each one. If they are not within range of being immune (some people weren't and needed booster).  The due date for us was Dec 30, for fall I'm not sure. The vaccines and things are for going to clinical.  You could do the background and titer levels, and do the drug test when you get here. The drug test is done at lab corp and takes couple days for results to post to them. They give you enough time incase you have to redo or resubmit.

Hope this help.
