CCRN retake! advice?

Published

Hi AllNurses!!

I just took the CCRN and unfortunately did not pass, needed 5 more questions!!! FIVE! UGH.

Anybody have any advice on maybe when to retake it, or to study for it?? The score sheet comes with a breakdown of the percentages in each content area that you got right. I figure I would take the few areas with the lowest percentages and review stuff in that area.

Any advice is appreciated...

Thank you!

I took the self assessment about five hours before I took the real CCRN, to see what I needed to do some last-minute brushing up on. I passed the self assessment by the skin of my teeth and the actual CCRN by a huge margin, not even close. At least for me, the self assessment was much harder.

Hey froggy8! I am in the exact same boat as you. I took the CCRN yesterday and made an 84. I wanted to scream but I was afraid they would arrest me at the testing site. I want to take the test again soon while the information is still fresh on my mind but I want to pass this time. I think I rushed to take it and I don't want to make that same mistake. I am just going to get my study plan together a little better and study some everyday instead of trying to cram. I am going to probably reschedule for mid to late April. In the interim I have to take the GRE and a chemistry course in order to apply for school. I hope your studies are going well. Be encouraged and know that you are not alone. Hugs!

GaMommy81, ugh! I probably screamed/groaned really loudly myself! Sorry that happened to you =[

Of course, take it until you pass! That is my next life goal sadly. And definitely reschedule asap because even if you can take it, the test dates are far away. As for the GRE, I took it awhile ago for something, not as hard as this test IMO. I am slacking in my studies atm.... will keep you updated...

Hey froggy! I am going to reschedule the test and take it before the end of May. That is what I probably should have done in the first place, but I know how I like to procrastinate. This time I am going to take my time and study in great detail. I am going to pass it the second time around. Have you rescheduled the test yet? I have not received any emails from the AACN yet regarding when I can retake the test or any test taking tips. I am just going to do my best with my study regimen and try really hard not to get discouraged. I have the GRE that I still need to schedule. All of this is really overwhelming. I will keep you updated. Good luck to you in the future.

RETOOK and PASSED!!! I felt like the question bank was a bit easier this time and more of what I had studied! There were even a few repeated questions from the first test!

Yay! Awesome froggy! I knew you could do it. I know it feels great to have the test behind you. I rescheduled for this Wednesday. Send some of your good vibes my way. Congratulations again!

GaMommy81, sending good vibes your way!

I think the small water break I took after question 100 helped alot the second time. But everyone is different. Keep me updated!!

Thanks. Will do. I pushed the test back to next week to give myself a little more time to prepare. I am going to pass this time! The positive vibes are much appreciated. Are you applying to grad school?

Not at the moment, I am new to ICU (

Congrats on passing! I took the test last Tuesday and missed passing by 1 question. I am waiting to hear when I can take it again. I feel that I answer the questions regarding visitors wrong! I did really well on pulmonary (88%) and poorly on cardiac (68%). You gave me hope that I can pass it the second time, Thanks!

Congratulations on passing. You guys have me convinced now. I'm going to buy the self-assessment after all
