CCRI Spring 2016 Applicants! Who's with me

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

I am applying to CCRI nursing program in August for the spring. Anyone out there applying as well?

hi, I'm applying next year with a point of 170, Im so nervous, but I've seen other applicants with much lower points who are getting inn? Just wondering was it your first time applying last february? Goodluck, i hope you get in this time

It was my first time applying and I never thought I was going to have a problem. I should have know because a lot of students retake their Biology classes until they get A's. I took Anatomy once and got a B and Phys once and got a B+...my Dosage and Intro to Health are A's. It is so frustrating because I am not willing to take classes over and over again to get it in. I have always had mostly A's until I took Biology classes lol. My GPA is 3.7 and I still did not get in and heard that students with lower points did. I hate to say it but it may be somewhat rigged. Whatever the case, I am hoping that I get in this time. I want to call so bad but I have heard that it is a big no. I called last time and then didn't get in!

The emails will go out on Thursday, September 24th.

The system isn't rigged. The biggest problem is choosing to apply to just one campus.

The more campuses you choose the more likely you are to get in.

In this current application pool there are only two campus options, Newport and Lincoln, with Lincoln having the largest application pool. If you choose to only apply to Newport and not Newport and Lincoln, you reduce your chance of getting in. Since Newport has a small pool, students with the highest point values will get those spots.

Here is how the selection process works:

1. We calculate points for all the applicants

2. The list is then sortted from highest points to lowest points

3. Two buckets are created, a Newport bucket and a Lincoln bucket

4. Starting with the first student on the list, we put you in one of the buckets based on your first choice

5. When one bucket fills up, Newport in this case, we start looking at your second choice

6. Anyone with Newport as their only option and didn't make it into that bucket before it filled up will not have a spot

7. Now the rest of the students go into the Lincoln bucket until it's full. This means that your points are considered before campus option. Anyone who has Lincoln as a second option now start to fall into the Lincoln bucket, along with those that have Lincoln as a first option

8. This goes on until we reach the limit of the Lincoln bucket

9. Newport accepts 29 and Lincoln accepts 77

There is no rigging to this process. Like I said, the only time someone with lower points makes it in over a person with higher points is when the higher point student doesn't have a second option; Newport is his or her only option and didn't make it into the Newport bucket.

That is very exciting to hear ! I think it is worse now that we know it could be Thursday. Longest 4 days EVER. But super excited to find out !

I am curious to know what the point spread was. Is that information available?

I also wonder how many applicants were in the mix for this term.

Thank you for making the system transparent. It is good to know.

Two more days! Very nervous I have 165 apying for Lincoln!

I can't give the range of points because it would be an unofficial way of telling students who was accepted and who wasn't. You'll have to wait for the emails.

I also don't think it would be appropriate to say how many applicants there were. All I can say is we have more applications than 77 + 29.

The suspense is killing me!

Has anyone had their Degree Eval pulled since 09/02/15?
