I figured I would start this topic to lower my anxiety just a little. I took the health allied test today and I have to wait till next week to get my scores. I really feel like im on pins and needles right now and I know I'll be a nervous wreck when I actually wait for my acceptance. Before I even got started on my journey to be a nurse I came across this website and It really answered a lot of questions about the application process, and was insightful in other areas of nursing that enabled me to think of more questions for answering. what I really love the most was that in previous years ccp applicants supported each other during the nerve wrecking waiting period on getting accepted. that support was so tremendous that a lot of the applicants bonded and became friends. Is there anyone else that has applied for the 2014 CCP program?
Has anyone started shopping for supplies? I am stressed on what kind of stethoscope to buy... they recommended a MDF but there are so many kinds and I keep hearing Littmann is better. What have you guys decided on and what other supplies are you buying to make it through the nursing program?
Also, if anyone has any down time... this website coursera.com offers free online courses through major universities and is having a free clinical terminology course taught through the University of Pittsburgh if you guys want to get a leg up. It's pretty basic this week...
So far, I am both excited and anxious. I got everything with me now except for a good white shoes. When I went to the orientation, a first year student recommended to me to buy the one from amazon. It cost about 20 bucks. She said it is a good stethoscope and its very cheap. I bout it right away and my parents (both are nurses) taught me how to use it and the bp cuffs and pump.
I really need to read the textbooks. I have been so lazy this entire summer. Next month, I will definitely start reading the books.
BTW, are you guys going to buy rolling bags? I have 3 giant textbooks to carry and some of them are ebooks which are in my tablet (Thank God)
I just need to purchase my stethoscope, sneakers, and books. I get bookstore credit, so I'm pretty sure i have to wait until the end of August to use. I've been extremely lazy this summer.
I never thought about purchasing a rolling backpack. It sounds like a good idea, especially because I'll be taking public transportation down into the city. Anyone else taking public trans. come the fall?
