2014 CCP Nursing Program

Published

I figured I would start this topic to lower my anxiety just a little. I took the health allied test today and I have to wait till next week to get my scores. I really feel like im on pins and needles right now and I know I'll be a nervous wreck when I actually wait for my acceptance. Before I even got started on my journey to be a nurse I came across this website and It really answered a lot of questions about the application process, and was insightful in other areas of nursing that enabled me to think of more questions for answering. what I really love the most was that in previous years ccp applicants supported each other during the nerve wrecking waiting period on getting accepted. that support was so tremendous that a lot of the applicants bonded and became friends. Is there anyone else that has applied for the 2014 CCP program?

Has anyone purchased any sneakers. I don't know what kind to purchase. Also do they have to be ALL white or can they have a bit of color. (All white slims the selection so much)

Yes the have to be all white no other colors. I agree that does limit the selection in reference to sneakers.

does our stethescope have to be a certain color cuz i got a pink one gifted to me by my co-workers. i don't want to buy another one if i don't have to.

I have a pink one as well.

Thanks! See everyone soon!

Hey everyone! Congrats to all who have made it to the program, that are currently in the program and those of you who are near the finish line. I am trying myself to make the program but don't no where to start. Every time I call CCP, its always automated and or you have to speak to this person but get that from everyone. Just my luck!!! I would be a transfer student and I pretty much have all the classes except for the Bio 106, 109, 110 and 241, Chem 110 and Diet 111. My question is what do I have to do to make the program? Is there a phone number/name for a counselor I can speak with? This whole process is a bit discouraging. I am a male and 32 years old wanting to switch careers. Always wanted to be in the medical field and I want to become a CRNA and this is the first step towards that goal. Any and all information would be greatly appreciated!

I have all my supplies except for books. I'm waiting for bookstore credit because I don't work, so i need it to pay for my books. I also still need to purchase the and just patiently wait for the semester to start I'm so excited and anxious.

Also is anyone still waiting for pheaa money from the spring semester? I've talked to financial aid in May and they said it would take 2 months, i never had to wait this long before.

I have not recieved any money from PHEAA for the spring semester. I looked at my bank statement from last year and I recieved it last year at the end of August, the 22nd to be exact.

I still have to purchase the as well.

I'm also very excited and nervous!!! Im ao anxiouss!!!

I just graduated from CCP in the spring and thought I'd share with you some things the teachers will not tell you:

PLEASE get a job in healthcare while in school. The ONLY people in my class who have RN jobs now are the ones who were working as CNA's/clerks/home health aides/EMT's while in school. You can take the CNA test through the AHA after first semester, during winter break, if you don't have it already. Just about everyone I know who was not working in healthcare while in the program does not yet have an RN job. I feel sorry for them.

Start looking at postings for RN jobs now. You will notice that 99% of RN jobs require 1 year experience. Hence, take my advice above and get into an organization NOW. No, volunteering doesn't count. And neither does joining nursing clubs and honor societies in school. Employers don't care. You need a job to get a job. So get a healthcare job and at place that hires RN's.

Start seriously studying for every test at least 2 weeks prior. Like, say bye to your kids and family and do nothing but eat, sleep and study (and work your healthcare job of course) for 2 weeks. Studying thoroughly for every CCP test is what allowed me to pass NCLEX in 75 questions, and walk out of the testing center thinking "wow, that was it?". Meanwhile, my classmates who did not do their readings, only studied the power points, crammed for tests for 3-4 days prior, (and still got B's) failed NCLEX. Yes, ALL the "crammers" I know FAILED NCLEX even though they were getting the same grades as me. Shoot for long term knowledge by studying thoroughly, consistently and not cramming...ever. It just doesn't fly with nursing.

All the other stuff, like taking care of yourself, being organized, blah blah, your teachers will tell you the first day.

Hi anyenydia,

Did you get your bookstore credit yet? All of the books are available in the bookstore. The required books came to 679.05.

Hi bossyrobi,

I got all the required books except for the pharmacology book because they were all out when I went on the 18th but i will be going back on the 25th to check because I also have to purchase my spanish book. Those books were really heavy.

Ok, that's good because we have a lot of chapters to read in that book for the first week. Have you started reading yet?
