CCM exam

Anyone here taking the CCM exam in August? I've read the other threads, but they are all older.....

I let my CCM certification expire like an idiot :roflmao: and am retaking in a week. For those who have tested this year, is there much on the Affordable Care Act on the exam? Am hoping not as that just means one more thing I will need to review :(

Took the exam today and got a preliminary PASS!! I bought the book, CMSA Core Curriculum for Case Management by Powell, Suzanne and honestly didn't use it. The outline format was not easy to follow. I did purchase the two CCM Exam Secrets Practice Tests and did them 2 days prior to testing. Brush up on Rehabilitation and Workers Comp. Only 1 question on the Affordable Care Act; something easy though.

Congrats to all who have passed this exam. I want to take it, but don't think I would qualify. I'm a Home Health Field nurse, not a Case Manager YET!!!

Just took the test today and got a preliminary pass. I did not think it was difficult. Studied the Data Chem disc, ccm body of knowledge and the ccm glossary of terms. Applying critical thinking skills, and familiarizing yourself with the glossary of terms will help.

I just took the CCM on 4/12/14. I used Certi Step Data Chem CD that I purchased brand new on 1/24/14. The comprehensive CD with 1100 questions covered majority of what was on the exam. The CCM questions were straight forward. For me the CD prepared me for what was on the exam: Life Care planning, long term care, HIPAA, Medical Home, Medicare in a testing format which transitions nicely. I purchased the CD for $259 but now that I've passed, I would like to offer it to someone else to help you in preparing for the Certified Case Manager Exam. please email me at [email protected]

I recently passed the CCM this December 19. I've been a case manager under 2 yrs. RN for 5 yrs.

I studied for about 2 1/2 months prior to the test.

Books:

Case Manager's Handbook - Mullahy

Secret's to the CCM

CMSA Core Curriculum

Practice test:

Certi-step DataChem 1000 questions

I bought the ExamEdge from CCMprep.com and found that the questions were not as helpful as the DataChem. I only took 2 tests and found that could have done without buying it.

The CCMC notes in all their materials that they do not endorse or work with any test-prep vendors regarding contents for the CCM exam. The only way those folks know about it is by paying somebody to take it and then come back to report. As there are multiple versions of the exam, you can see why they're taking advantage of your good nature. Save your money. Get the good books that you'll keep using when you're working, learn the material, and prepare to demonstrate YOUR knowledge of case management, not somebody else's best guess.

Yes I'm fully aware of that they do not work with any test preparation vendors. I was just suggesting a test prep for those who want to practice taking 180 question test and apply their knowledge.

Dont think there's anything wrong with that.

Hi!

I see you were a CM for under two years - how were you able to sit for the exam did you work under a CCM nurse?

I ask because I want to take the test in DEC 17 but by the time the application closes I will be two weeks under the 24 months.
