CCBC Nursing Fall 2015

Published

Hi all!! Just wondering if anyone else applied to the upcoming fall semester to CCBC? I want to get a feel of all the competition that I am up against.... LOL!

No problem at all. When I took the TEAS, I didn't waste time reading the passage. I went straight to the question and then looked through the passage for the answer to the question that it was asking. I'm not saying that's what you should do, but it worked for me. It also gave me a lot of time to go back after answering all the questions to look them over. I will totally let you know how it goes. I'm super excited to start. Never say never, you might just get in anyways. What score did you get on the TEAS?

Yea by the time I took the Teas I had already submitted my ATB application in hopes that I would pass the test and not miss any deadlines so all of my documents are already in CAS and paid for for spring 2016. So I will see if i get lucky . I got a 54.7 on the test and proficient is 58.7 so I was extremely close ,however , I understand that even just getting the proficient mark may not always make you competitive its hit or miss so fingers crossed .

If you don't mind me asking what were your stats like when you were accepted ? So I can kind of gauge what they're looking for in applicants .

Hey, sorry im jumping in...first of all i, wish u the best for you in getting in! I can give u a second gauge in what stats they accepted. I got in with a around a 3.3 overall and 3.19 in science i did just ok on my teas with a 64 (according to ATI its a mean/average score for CCBC) but i did very well in reading which boosted my score. This is the section at least 69 is reccommended. I was extremely nervous waiting for acceptance because i felt i was just average but i got in, no waiting list.

Hello, I'm just gonna jump in also. Mursegeek17 is right you must score a proficient on your teas to get accepted. You also must score above a 69 on the reading portion even though it says "recommended" I know this because I was rejected the first time I applied due to a low reading score (that and I didn't get my teas in on time anyway). Now here's the good news, I got accepted this semester with only a 3.0 GPA and proficient on my teas score, I also had 2 C's in my science classes. I hope this helps! Also in regards to running out of time on the reading section, this happened to me too (that's why my reading score was below 69) the second time I took it I read the questions first then went back in the passage and found the answer, not saying this will work for everyone but that's how I brought my reading score up the second time : ) best of luck!

Thanks so much for the valuable info I will take all this in consideration when I take it again . I am starting to study for it already so I can make the January 31 deadline for ATB. I have two Bs and 1 C in the three Bios and I'm taking Chem this fall hoping for B or an A . Thanks for the well wishes I will keep you guys updated . Good luck in the program .

how long after receiving your waitlist email did you get the phone call about being accepted? I have been waitlisted and I am praying that I receive a call of acceptance

Hey guys! I got into ccbc Essex for Spring, and ATB with stevenson and Towson. I having a hard time choosing! Any advice? Also, is ATB worth it??

Hey everyone! how easy was to get into the Towson ATB program? what do they look at?

Hi csalas4,

I was accepted at Towson and Frostburg (I ended up choosing Frostburg) for the ATB program, and from what I remember from the info session, they look at if you've completed the prerequisites, your GPA, and your TEAS score. If you haven't gone to an info session, I highly recommend it! They answered a lot of questions that I had before deciding whether or not I wanted to pursue the program because it meant that I needed to take Chemistry, Statistics, Communications, and Nutrition in one semester (those are the additional prerequisites for the ATB program versus the CCBC RN program). I wouldn't say it was easy to do well in my classes and on my TEAS exam, but if you put in the work, it's easy to get in.

Specializes in ICU.

How do you feel about the Frostburg program so far? I'm applying for Fall 2016 but haven't seen a lot of student feedback about this program. Thanks!

Hello hon918,

I'm with you! I haven't been able to find very much information from people who've already started the Frostburg ATB program. I can't offer very much information because I start on Monday so I don't have much experience to draw from. So far: I like that they use Blackboard like CCBC because I'm used to it (they do an online orientation through Blackboard), financial aid goes through Frostburg, not CCBC and every time I've had to call, it's been super easy. They pretty much handle everything and are very accessible. Sorry I don't have much to share, but remind me and I can let you know what I think after this semester!! Good luck with everything!
