Hi all!
I just submitted my application to CCBCs Essex Day program for Fall '19. I immediately felt like I was going to puke! (hopefully this is a good indication?!) Anyway, I would love to connect with other applicants, so we can worry together.
Hoping to hear back from some of you!
Aly
I didn't know the orientations were at different times for different programs! Did anyone get into the hybrid program? There's only like 20 or 25 people in that one, so I wonder if it's a tiny little orientation. As for the books, I think some books are used for more than one semester, but I think it's still up there. I tried entering in the classes into the Ccbc bookstore website for spring 2019 to see what came up. Let me just say it's a ridiculously long list.
I think I spent a solid $1200 on supplies and books for my first semester. I got two of the uniforms, shoes, penlights, stethoscope, BP cuff, nurse kit, and then the books. I have used my Funds book since purchasing it, and I've perused the MedSurg book just because I think some of the stuff is cool. I've been using the heck out of my Maternal-Newborn book ((MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) emphasizes particular pages and tables throughout lecture). I also bought a few books strictly for practice question purposes.

I know we have to buy our own stethoscope (did it matter color and type) also do you have to purchase your own BP cuff and penlights? Thanks greatly appreciate the info

I purchased a Littman III stethoscope and BP cuff combo on allheart (they tend to have pretty awesome sales). The only stipulation with the stethoscope is that it must be single-tubing rather than paired. We do have to purchase our own penlights and BP cuffs as well. The BP cuff isn't mandatory, though, it just comes in handy for skills testing practice. I bought penlights from Amazon (3-pack) and I'm still on my first one.
