CCAC Spring 2010

U.S.A. Pennsylvania

Published

Just curious if any who have applied have heard if they've been accepted to CCAC Nursing program for Spring 2010 admittance?

Also, does anyone out there know what the likelihood is of getting your fist choice?

Just a question. Does anyone know the policy on tattoos? Do they have to be covered up?

I don't know the policy but my three will be covered by my scrubs.

Did anyone get titers done at the Allegheny Health Dept? If so, how long did your results take?

Thanks.

it took about 3 weeks for the results, they told me to expect up to 4 weeks.

oh no. That January 4th due date at Allegheny might be tough.

Thanks, dondk.

really? I was told that you need the titer completed before you can enter clinicals. I thought clinicals do not start immediately, something like 1/2 way into the semester.

Regardless, my titer determined I was not immune, fortunately I got the booster anyway. I am just waiting until I can get the titer redone which is in about 2 weeks. I will not have a result until mid January and Boyce told me it would not be an issue.

I don't know. Allegheny said they wanted everything by the 4th, but I haven't called to see how lenient they would be. Our clinicals start the second week, I believe, and I should have the results by then. So, everything might work out.

Hopefully it will work out, lets be honest with the late notice we got it is very difficult if not impossible to get everything completed by the deadlines they gave.

I don't recall seeing AP2 classmates in scrubs until later in the semester, that is why I thought clinical started later in the semester. I can't get a straight answer from the campus other than "you will find out in orientation". I am clueless why there is always a mystery surrounding the nursing program that can't be just answered. I am not asking where clinical is, just when it is.

Seems strange to assume that on day 1 we as nursing students with zero knowledge would be of any benefit in a clinical environment. Isn't that why we have skills and assessment labs? to lean before we are set free in clinical?

I am still waiting for mine, they said it would take about 3 weeks hopefully they come in soon. It was 3 weeks on monday since I had them done.

Damn, at least you have until jan. 4th, at Boyce they wanted everything by dec. 18th

you forgot to mention the "or else" with Boyce. OR else=removed from the program if you did not meet the deadline on the 18th.

Personally, Allegheny has the books with ISBN's on the online bookstore, that is impressive. Boyce still has no ISBN's.

Hmmm. Interesting. Did you actually get this information directly from CCAC? I wonder how many of the applicants had all of their information complied, (ie. were any missing prereqs, etc.). I don't know about your experience, but when I sat down with an advisor at Allegheny back in June, I practically had to pry information out of him. I had all of my prereqs and application materials completed, but it wasn't really through his help.

Also, do any of you know which campus for Spring, (Allegheny or Boyce) is more "popular", (had the most applicants), or which program, Day or Eve./Weekend is more popular? Just curious. My first choice was Allegheny, Eve./Weekend. I had a 3.3 GPA in my college credits, an "A" in A&P1 and 2 and so/so scores on my NET, (75%, I think). What about you all?

So it's not just me. I have found most CCAC staff difficult to talk to. A lot of them seem either incompetent or indifferent. I've found several really good teachers, but other staff not so much.
