CCAC Spring 2015 Hopefuls

U.S.A. Pennsylvania

Published

Hi All!

Just sending out a good luck huzzah to everyone applying for the Spring 2015 cohort at the Community College of Allegheny County.

We can start applying tomorrow and the the deadline is August 15.

I am all done with my pre-reqs and co-reqs, so am excited to get this application process rolling. I am going tomorrow to meet with an advisor to be sure all of my ducks are in a row.

Anyone else out there applying?

Be careful about starting a facebook page, the dean of nursing had a talk with moderators of a facebook page last semester.

What books should we be bringing on the first day? I heard that we should bring the Taylor book but I'm not sure what else.

Thanks Mew :) I'll think I'll just avoid them. We can all exchange e-mail addy's after we get into a groove with class.

Okay so I am trying to sort through all the posts to get a comprehensive list of exactly what books were in the Taylor bundle because I purchased mine through Amazon and now I am worried because I see other titles. I saw a post from Goldsmitty but it didn't list exact titles with ISBN numbers. In case anyone is wondering if you get the bundle from Amazon you will receive the following books

Textbook of Medical-Surgical Nursing 13th Edition ISBN-13 978-1-4511-3060-7

Drug Therapy in Nursing 4th Edition ISBN-13 978-1-4511-8766-3

Fundamentals of Nursing the Art and Science of Nursing Care 7th Edition ISBN 978-0-7817-9383-4

w some access codes for the books

Can someone please share the other books that were in the CCAC bundle?

I just went to class and now everyone has the eight eidition of the fundamentals taylor book! I am so confused now and hope all my other stuff is the right edition!!!

I believe that 7th edition will still work as long as you have the access codes :) Just make sure you know what pages to read in advance. I think the only difference is the picture on the front of the book is different and the chapters are slightly out of order. My lab teacher actually gave us a syllabus for the seventh edition for those people who needed it.

Nice, ours didnt! She said she'd have to find out which was being used as the skills are different, for example the one skill was 24 steps in the eight edition and only 22 in the 7th....who knows whats correct if they dont!

For anyone with the Taylor 7th edition, here is a list of the chapters in the 8th edition, so you can adjust your syllabus if you need to. I attached the link below where you can see some of the other differences in the two editions.

Prep-U Taylors, 7th addition additional information: The code given to us by our instructor will not work with the 7th addition prep-u. You must call the Online Product Support at 1-800-468-1128 and have them help you to switch it to the 8th edition. You just need to provide your email and instructor name. It was quick and it's free to do.

My prepU says 4th edition???? I cant access the stupid class and I'm unsure which it is I got my books switched at the book store to the eight edition...anyone else having trouble getting into prepU??

Hey I know this is way after the fact, but im applying for spring 2016 and I found out that my mother does not have my immunization records. I have tried to obtain them from every place I could think would have them, but no luck. Does any one remember what immunizations were required by the program since I have to get them all again and now pay out of pocket.

Any help would be appreciated!
