Congrats!!! I heard that the PAX was so much harder than the NET test. How was it? Was there really physics on the test? What about any science? I am currently in the 2011 class and cant wait to graduate.
Yes, there's a LOT of physics - that surprised me. Several on frequency, amplitude and simple machines. The bio-science is pretty basic though - respiratory, circulatory and pH. I used the NLN Prep book (the one they recommend on their website), it was a HUGE HELP!! Especially since I haven't had physics since high school!
They do tell you that there's 6 different exams - I don't know if that means the questions are different, or they're just in a different order.

Hey all!
I took my PAX test on Feb 13th (it was pushed back from Feb 6, because of all the snow). I got my results in the mail today!! I think I did OK, but I'm not sure how to tell whether or not I passed or not???!
Help?? :)
Thanks in advance,
Teena :)

Does anyone know if that 50% on each section is referring to 50% correct or the 50th percentile? I took the test on May 22, and feel that I did really well on the Verbal and the Math, but let me tell you, that science was TOUGH if you do not know much about physics or chemistry. A little bit of everything: amplitude, Coulumbs, frequency, Lugol's solution, lifestages of the ant, circuits, ph, etc. About the last 25 questions were pretty much a guessing game for me, though the first 25 were really easy. The middle thirty or so were moderate difficulty.
I can't wait to get my results. Was anyone else there that day at South campus on May 22?

I wasnt there on May 22, but I was there on May 8. I got my results last Saturday. Composite Percentile SCore: 96, Composite Score: 140. I think thats good, but I'm not sure if its good enough to get into CCAC's program considering that I havent yet completed A&P 1 and 2 and Microbio. I plan on taking those this summer and fall. I heard your grades in those classes give you extra points when they're evaluating your application. What did other people get on the PAX?
I'm certain that a score of 96th percentile is plenty good for CCAC's program. A score of 96th percentile is the top 4% of everyone who takes the test! Meaning, only about one in 25 who take the test score that high. This is, in fact, the definition of "percentile." Most people score around a 50. Since CCAC requires a minimum of 50 on all sections, that means that over half of all the people who take it will not even be able to apply for the program. I'm sure that a percentile of 96 is going to be easily above the average percentile score for people who are accepted into the program, given the fact that there are only a certain number of people who score that high in this area to apply to CCAC, and CCAC takes several hundred applicants each start date. It's just simple math.
As far as you having not taken A & P, I wouldn't worry about that. There are others who post on here who said when they applied they had not taken it either and were accepted, AND that they knew others who did not take it and were all accepted as well. Since you are taking AP this summer, you could even have the first one completed by the time the due date comes around for spring admission, since the lady in the Allegheny office told me deadline will be end of August.
If you aren't accepted to CCAC, it won't be because your PAX-RN scores were too low. Most people who apply to CCAC nursing are accepted as long as they completed the prerequisites and met the minimums; many don't and apply anyway. I heard that this last year was the FIRST year where they had more eligible applicants than admission spots, which obviously means that they normally admit most everyone who meets the qualifications.
Thanks for that thorough response. I truly appreciate it, Jasoninpa!!
I finally got my scores today from the May 22 testing, and I'm really delighted! I got a total composite of 156, composite percentile 99. Verbal 55/60- 99th; Math 39/40- 99th; Science 49/60-98th. I'm really thrilled!
To people who take it in the future, don't be dismayed before receiving your scores if you think you did badly on the science. I, along with many others on this site, thought I did rather badly on the science but thanks to percentiles actually ended up doing very well!
Good luck everyone.
GREAT JOB!!!! What campus are you applying for and when? And how do you know so much about CCAC? Its hard to find all their information online (ex: boyce has a day time fast track program that I just found out about but had no idea even after looking at their info online)
