Hello All,
I am starting a new thread for the upcoming application process for CCAC fall 2014 nursing admissions. I applied for the sping 2014 cohort and was declined due to my gpa, but now I'm hopeful for my first choice for the fall! I can't wait to get the application process started and wish the rest of you the best of luck!!
Hi, 3rd semester (Allegheny evening) CCAC student here. I'm a huge proponent of getting previous-edition books for this program (as in, if they ask for 12th edition, getting the 11th). There's a huge reduction in cost (ex: my Taylor Fundamentals book cost just $6 on Amazon), but you just have to be mindful of page numbers (sometimes the only thing that changes between editions is chapter order). The extra cost usually comes from the CDs and bonus online materials, but in my experience, the professors have only required those for remediation if you fail a test. Be resourceful! There are plenty of ways this program will get you to spend money, including the new upfront-for-all-four-semesters ATI payment that is non-negotiable.
Hey all I hope your 1st semester is going great!!!! I wanted to hear from some people at North and Allegheny. I am currently in the Boyce fast track and am thinking about transfering to an other evening program. I am leaning towards North campus, but I wanted to know if anyone had any input. I saw on the schedules that North is in class for less time. Is there more of an online component? Also what are clinical sites and how have you enjoyed them? Any information or input would be great.
Hi!! I have been reading older post to get a feel of what to expect with nursing program... I have come across your post! I'll be start the Boyce nursing program for spring 2015... And I was wondering if you can give some advice and ease my mind! I know the work load is a lot and a lot of studying I didn't expect anything less than that. But if you could offer some words of wisdom!! And ease my mind that would be great!!! Thanks! FYI I'm not doing fast track
I seek wisdom from anyone in the South evening/day program.
I was accepted into fall 2015 and would like to know if the second orientation in Aug is mandatory or skipable. I know it provides clinical info for students.
I plan on taking my family on vacation that week and of course the school is useless for providing factual information. any info from you fine folk will be greatly appreciated.
Also, do you start hospital clinicals your first week or last 5? acceptance letter said last five weeks. Someone else told me immediately.
Congrats on your acceptance. You should really try to go to the second orientation if at all possible. If not, maybe try to send someone to get the info for you. There is so much info and it kind of all just gets thrown at you. The one thing I will tell you is if at all possible, don't start out by being behind. For the clinicals, they start the first week and last all semester. Good luck!
