Hi Everyone, I just got my acceptance letter today for ccac/calu spring 2010! I thought that it would be a good idea to start a thread for CALU. So that all of us that got accepted can get aquainted since we will be classmates and we can use this thread to share information about CALU & the program..............I am looking forward to meeting everyone!!

hello everyone!I got my letter yesterday for the CCAC/Cal program too! This is a good idea betty, so we can all get acquainted!
This might be a stupid question but, here goes lol.. Is everyone going ASAP to schedule for their classes? or are you all just waiting to see what we get in the mail? I am scheduled for micro, i did it just in case, but i'm not sure if it will fit in with our schedule.. so I probably need to drop that
It feels good being in the "students" section of the website rather than "nursing programs" LOL
Looking forward to meeting everyone and keeping in touch!:yelclap:
I agree it is great to finally be in the student section! I did schedule some classes already for spring but I am not sure if we can take non nursing courses at ccac or if we have to apply and register at calu for the non nursing classes. I myself am definitely holding off micro for summer, I heard that it is really hard to take it with nursing classes. Hopefully I have an answer monday about what to do with non nursing courses. dondk is right if you are not going to take non nursing courses at calu there is really no way that I can see to take the courses at south campus unless it is on a weekend or online....I will let everyone know what I find out:D
The kids and I took a road trip to CALU today! It was a nice drive not very far for me at all. The campus is pretty big. It looks really nice though. We took rt 51 to 70 then got on 43 the toll was only $0.95...... Too bad when we start the weather will be cold. The grounds are really nice and there is a lot of places to sit outside and study or whatever.:yeah:

I definitely plan on taking Micro in the summer too!! We'll have to try to take the same class Betty!
So I am excited,I am married with 3 kids, 14, 4, and 1. I am 34 and I have all the classes but A&P and the nursing courses done. I am looking forward to going back to school. There was someone else who lives near waynesburg do we know if they got in yet, would love someone to carpool with, would help out with the fuel expense!!
Post when you get the info packets!!
Congrats again. BTW I did not apply to Cal. Was told I did not need to. If you find out that we do need to please post so I can take care of that.
Thanks,
Lesli Joy

It looks like we are waiting for mn6674 to let us know if she got in she lives near waynesburg. I did not think that we had to apply to cal either, but I should know for sure on monday............ Since you started with sharing I will continue I am 42 and a single mother of 3 children aged 10, 8 & 18 months. the only classes I have left are math, micro, 2 englishes and my humanities elective. I will be taking math in the spring with my nursing 101. I feel like it took me so long to get to this point! I am sooo excited to finally be a nursing student!!!
Oh my...I wanna meet every one and get started! Lol Im ready to go....orientation can't come soon enough.
I HAVE SOME INFO FOR EVERYONE: I just emailed Shannon Wallace at Cal U and she responded right away!! She is mailing out our informational packets today!!! So orientation should be coming soon Dcal!
Well I am going out of town again, so I will have to wait until I get back to get my information packet. You know I never go anywhere and then the 2 times I actually go out of town I want to be home to check the mail. LOL. Not sure if I will have internet access on this trip. I am going to visit my best friend in MO she has a daughter that just had surgery, she is a little over a month old and was 16 weeks early. So I will be at the hospital for most of my visit. I look forward to meeting all of you, maybe we don't have to wait for orientation and maybe we can meet somewhere for lunch or drinks or something sometime soon.
I will be back late Friday so I will talk to you all again on Saturday.

from reading all the older posts on how this works and what I have heard around campus (Allegheny), the day of our mandatory orientation, they will draw names and register us at that time.
(credit to betty), you can look in the CCAC catalog and see that regardless we are all going 4 days a week. You can sort of figure out what hours of the day are safe to take another course, it is safe to say don't even bother with T-R courses (clinicals and LAB are either T or R, LAB between 0800 and 455P).
there is not a lot of wiggle room for day classes with CALU other than weekends.
