CBU EL MSN SUMMER 2019

Nursing Students School Programs

Hi,

I just got an email for an interview for the program! My interview is Feb 8th at 1pm. Has anyone else received interviews??

Hey all, I was looking for info and stats for the upcoming interview and found this forum. Got my invite a few weeks ago for Friday interviews at 1pm. Looking forward to it, good luck everyone!!

P.S. Im thinking they have people they like in mind already due to the format being groups interviews. Its Difficult to get a feel for an individual with that format. Just my my personal feeling/opinion. If there are indeed only 50 people interviewing I’d say we all have a great shot at getting in. Good luck!!

Is anyone FREAKING out that our interviews are literally tomorrow?! I am so excited to meet you all as we could all potentially be future classmates for the next three years.

Yes i am freaking out too!! But, I am also very excited. I hate group interviews but we will have to make the best out of it. I agree with @Maholguin12 they must have their preferences already. It is so hard to stand out in group interviews especially when everyone always wants to say the same thing haha. The essay might be a way to stand out as well.

I can't wait to meet you all but am so nervous to see what tomorrow will be like! Have you any of you heard anything about how the group interviews are structured in terms of does everyone get a chance to answer questions or is it a free for all? I've never had a group interview before so I'm really curious.

? my approach to this is the same as PAX exam. Nervous the day before, the morning of, and on the walk to the building. Once inside, tired of being nervous, let's just get this over with. We've been waiting for this day to pass. We'll be looking forward to 4PM.

Looking forward to meeting everyone!

I don't know how CBU does it, but my wife went through a group interview at LLU to get into a different master's program over there. She said that they posed a question to the group (such as, "why do you want to become a nurse?") and then everyone went around giving their answer. I guess one good thing is that something someone else says might inspire you on the spot. But then, I imagine that most people would probably say similar things.

I'm sure that the faculty interviewing us have been doing this for years and likely have heard it all before. So my thought is that they're not going to be focusing so much on what we say, but how we say it. Like, how authentic and sincere we are in giving our answers. It's one thing to say you're passionate about becoming a nurse, and another thing to actually show that you're passionate.

So I think the best advice for us to prep for tomorrow is the age-old "Just be yourself"!

I'm nervous/excited for this interview tomorrow as well! Praying for us all! ? YOU got this!

wish you all the very best.

btw, how do you guys feel about the interview process?

I thought the "speed dating" format was pretty nerve-wracking. I like that we got one-on-one interaction with the interviewing professors, but I think I spoke way too fast and was tripping over my words because I felt so rushed trying to think about and say everything I wanted to say. I left feeling unsure if I made a good impression or not. I know I did my best, at least, and am thankful that God brought us all this far. Nothing left to do now but hope and pray!

For the sake of future CBU applicants who may see this someday:

The interview process consisted of 3 groups of 2-3 professors. Each group had 1 set question to ask and 1 chair in front of them for applicants to sit in one at a time (we were all lined up outside the interview room). We were told right before we went in that we had 90 seconds to answer each question, though it felt like less than that to me. A bell was rung to mark the start and end of each 90 second period. Once your 90 seconds were up with one group of professors, you would move on to the next group for your next 90 second interview. And so on, until you were done with all 3 groups (so 3 questions to answer in total).

There was also an essay portion. We were given 25 minutes to write on 3 prompts. And I mean, literally write. As in pencil and paper, even though the essay was in the computer lab. The last portion was a 15 minute teamwork activity with professors observing.

Blessings and best wishes to you all!

I completely agree with how you felt on the speed interview!

who else got a call for another second interview? I did not.
