Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi,

I just got an email for an interview for the program! My interview is Feb 8th at 1pm. Has anyone else received interviews??

Hey there everyone! I am a elmsn applicant for cbu's 2020 program! I was just wondering what everyone's gpa or TEAS scores were. Just about to send in my application before october 1st and feeling anxious about the whole process. CBU is my number one choice so any pointers or advice for the application process would be greatly appreciated!! G bless!!

Hi Audrey! For our application cycle we didn't take the TEAS test. We took the PAX Exam. The school transitioned after our application cycle to the TEAS test. As for the GPA, don't worry so much about comparing with what others have! An important thing is to be really focused more on telling your story in your personal statement paper & also in your interview. Good luck! ?

If you have anymore questions I'd be happy to help! My email is [email protected]

Hi Audrey,

Like Alexis said, our cohort took the PAX so the scores aren't comparable. You may want to email Marilla at CoN (College of Nursing) for the average stats of accepted applicants if you really want to know.

Do you have any previous healthcare experience at all? Even as a volunteer? About a third of our cohort had previous healthcare experience (like CNA, EMT, medical assistant, etc). I would definitely emphasize any previous healthcare work or volunteer experience in your personal statement. Also, when writing your personal statement make sure you show and not just tell. Like, don't just say "I want to be a nurse to help people" share a (short) story or anecdote about how you helped someone or observed someone helping someone (ideally in a healthcare setting) and how that experience inspired you to want to be a nurse. For example, I wrote about an experience I had working as a CNA assisting a nurse with wound care on a patient that inspired me to want to go further in nursing. Being an entry-level program, previous healthcare experience isn't required of course, but I would say it's a definite plus.

Blessings to you and good luck!

Audrey,

As it was previously stated, the PAX was taken instead of the TEAS. However, I did take the TEAS as well and if you did well I am sure you will get an interview. I do think that GPA plays a role, in the prerequisites particularly.

However, I think that your personal statement is what really will set you apart. Make sure to tell a story to define who you are and what you bring to the table. Make sure to not just present yourself as a good academic candidate, but as a person that will represent CBU values. I think that most people in our cohort seem to have structured their statements around personal background.

The process takes a long time so don't expect to be hearing back for awhile. If you are chosen for an interview, you will at the very least be on the waitlist.

Good luck :)

Hi Alexis!

I am looking into applying to the ELMSN program for 2021 and had some questions about the personal statement. Also, about the program and what you have experienced so far. Would it be okay to email you?

Yes of course! ?

For anyone that applied for the 2020 cohort, I made a thread!

link:

Hey Everyone!

My name is Dennis Nguyen. I recently got invited for an interview on the 14th for the CBU 2020 cohort. Quite a relief. So far I'm 2/2, as I have an interview for WesternU the following week. Those who are in prior cohorts, can you allude to the interview process please? If so, please email me --> [email protected]

I would greatly appreciate it! CBU is in my top 3 schools. The staff was super friendly when I visited and I get to move back closer to home (Rancho Cucamonga). Good luck to everyone!
