  1. Hey all! I have been a psych nurse for 2 years. I am applying and interviewing for new jobs. One of the units is "Psych Medical Acute." Patient to nurse ratio is 6:1. In your experience, does that typically mean med surg patients with psych issues or psych patients with some medical issues? I am used to very mobile patients now with no IVs and am kinda nervous, truth be told. Thank you for any insight and/or advice.
  2. Hey guys. Is it a 2 year commitment afterwards? I had asked on a FB group and one person who was previously apart of it said yes and another said she heard no. My decision to apply is based on that unfortunately.
  3. As I near the last couple of months of my nursing program, I keep coming back to psych nursing. Nursing is my second degree, I have my first in Biopsych, so I am really interested in the theory aspect as well. Can anyone offer me advice on psych nursing? Are there usually psych nursing new grad programs, or is that mostly for other types of nursing? I have heard it is great to start as a new grad on night shift, is this also the case for new grad psych nursing? Is it fairly easy to get a job as a new grad psych nurse? (I live in southern CA) Thanks in advance for any and all advice and info ?
  4. Audrey, As it was previously stated, the PAX was taken instead of the TEAS. However, I did take the TEAS as well and if you did well I am sure you will get an interview. I do think that GPA plays a role, in the prerequisites particularly. However, I think that your personal statement is what really will set you apart. Make sure to tell a story to define who you are and what you bring to the table. Make sure to not just present yourself as a good academic candidate, but as a person that will represent CBU values. I think that most people in our cohort seem to have structured their statements around personal background. The process takes a long time so don't expect to be hearing back for awhile. If you are chosen for an interview, you will at the very least be on the waitlist. Good luck :)
  5. Hey everyone! I am in the AM slot tomorrow. Excited to meet you all!
  6. I can't wait to meet you all but am so nervous to see what tomorrow will be like! Have you any of you heard anything about how the group interviews are structured in terms of does everyone get a chance to answer questions or is it a free for all? I've never had a group interview before so I'm really curious.
  7. Wow, congrats on the 147! I got a 144 and from what I can tell from the report I am in the 97th percentile for RN so you're pretty up there.
  8. Hey all! I will also be at the interview this Friday @1pm. Reading from past threads there's three parts and we will be in large groups. I am really nervous to have such a big group (~10) because I am worried not everyone will get to speak that much in order to make a good impression. Does anyone know if one of the parts will be an essay?
