I am working my way towards the cath lab and I just started to wonder if RN's make more in the cath lab than on a tele/med surg floor. Thanks so much!!

At my hospital, there is a ~1.00 to 1.50/hr premium. SUpposedly.

I am new to the cath lab and I came from an ED. I don't know if others agree but in my area, Critical care whether it be ED, ICU, CCL, PICU pays more and the sign on bonuses tend to be more money also. I try not to let money gear any of my decisions, but it's a nice bonus and I love cardiac nursing!

Hey, Good luck with getting more money!
I have been working in a cath lab for 8 months. Prior to that I was in ICU for 3 years and Nephrology for 6. No one has ever paid me more for knowing more! What a concept! Anyway, I really, really love what I am doing now and would do it forever even without the monitary consolation. I make about 28.00/hour, if this helps!

HI,
No difference in the salaries regardless of what area you work at my job. Sometimes they offer sign on bonuses for the most needed areas.
hope this helps

I've not heard of any cath lab paying more than floor/ICU/ER nursing. Where you could pick up more money would be in the call pay, depending on the hospital's policy.
When I worked OHRR, I was prn. I always signed up on call, because if they needed me, it was $5 per hr, plus my prn rate per hour. If they did not need me (didn't happen often), I got $5/hr to stay home.
