Bangsit,

I moved this post to the California Forum. Usually when you're referring to a specific school or facility, you'll get the best responses in the respective state forum. Good luck!

In California we are referred to as LVNs, not LPNs!

I attended Casa Loma College at the Van Nuys campus in 2004 and 2005. While I didn't think highly of the instructors, the school is reputable and has been in existence for approximately 41 years. The Hawthorne campus had a decent NCLEX pass rate, too.

My daughter attended the same campus as The Commuter and she had the same criticisms. She did state that her clinical experiences were beneficial b/c she had good preceptors at the sites she went to. She was glad to get through the program. Good luck with your decision.

Back in late 2004, the tuition was $19,995. I financed the entire amount with a Sallie Mae student loan over 10 years at about 7 percent interest, and the payments were about $240 monthly. This student loan has since been paid off.

California's Community Colleges have excellent LVN programs. There are also programs in LA and San Diego as part of adult ed that are much less pricey!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's alot of money for the return!

I was fully aware that I paid a whole lot of tuition money. However, I willingly paid it to avoid ending up on a waiting list. The community college is a cheaper option, but there are many people waiting to be admitted.
