Carrington College Reno

I just took the entrance exam for the RN program at Carrington College Reno. Has anyone been accepted in the program and do you remember what your scores were? I did above average but I'm worried that they weren't good enough. Since I will be moving to Reno from California to attend the school, I'm getting anxious and I'm wondering if I should try to take the exam again before the cutoff for the January class.

Yeah the start date is getting close!!! I had my financial aid appt. today, so much to take in lol how did yours go?

I'm still in sticker shock a little bit. Half of the tuition I'll have to pay for myself or with personal loans. But only two classes I have will transfer. That's still $4500 off my portion though!

I felt a little sick once I saw all of those numbers on paper!lol I have two pre-reqs that apparently will not transfer :( I was sure my government and psychology class would transfer but I was told today they would not...so I'm going to be meeting with the director of enrollment to make sure all of this information is correct.

Have you researched the books? A lot can be bought from Amazon or eBooks for much less than the ones you get from the school.

I have not done research on the books. Didn't think about the fact that I might be able to purchase them somewhere else to be honest. Does Carrington allow you to use books purchased somewhere else? I did ask if it is possible to use books passed down to me from current students. She said yes as long as they are the current required edition.

She gave me a list of books they use and I did an Amazon search on ALL of them and you can save about 2k. I also plan on using my iPad for eBooks. They give you the books at orientation and if you find it cheaper you just return the Carrington book to the school and they'll credit your account. Must be the exact book and edition.

Wow I was not told any of that. Who did you speak with? I'm sure we can find most books for pre-reqs and nursing courses online. I was thinking that if they were not purchased directly through Carrington, you wild not be able to use them. Every dollar I can save definitely counts!!!
