Caring for Patients with Facial Surgery

Random thought: The other day, I became fascinated with face shapes and became curious as to if or how they could be altered.  In particular, I became curious about v-line jaw surgery, which helps to make the jaw look narrower.  I was wondering if anyone has ever cared for any patients who have undergone this surgery.  For instance, what has been your experience caring for patients with box-shaped faces undergoing such surgery? How were you involved as a nurse and were there any ramifications involved for the patient?

On a serious note: Years go, circa 1987,  I scrubbed in for a repair of the zygomatic arch on a young lady.

The plastic surgeon made an incision just below the eye, popped the zygomatic arch with a rongeur, and when he sutured the incision, it disappeared!

It was quite a feat of a suturing job, after previously having scrubbed in on several cases with Drs. Frankenstein.

Are you thinking about such a surgery, SilverBells?

Let's do a computer simulation to get an idea of how it may look...
