Career help!

Good morning I hope everyone had a wonderful Xmas. So here's my issue. I am a new grad (about 8 months experience) I have worked in long term for 4 years (3 cna 1lpn 6 month rn) I recently got a job at the va on mental health outpt care setting. I was told in my interview I would have pt interaction and that there will be great job opportunities ahead of me. However iv been here for almost 2 months and they have me updating and maintaining group calender and separating people into specialty groups. I don't want to leave due to 2 reasons: 1 it looks bad on a resume to leave so soon and 2 I'll be moving with my husband to Ms for 6 months (military and don't no when we'll leave could be in a year or next month). I don't no what to do I feel like I will loose my skills as a nurse. I have talked to them about this and they said we will discuss it more in detail after the holidays but I really don't think there is much for me to do. Does anyone have any advise or has been in a similar situation? Please help.

You have a much coveted employer. Certainly with many job opportunities.

2 months is really a very short period of time. No way could you expect any employer to jump to your desires.

You must make this a good fit. Perform your assigned duties with enthusiasm, instead of complaints.

You won't lose any skills, only gain some.

If they say they'll talk about it after the holidays, take them at their word. I don't know how this will work out, but I doubt you will lose any nursing skills in the process. Stick with the VA and count your lucky stars.

you are in a gold mine, and do not know it....... my first va job as an RN, was so beneith me , ))snicker(( i thought as i was "ms critical care", and the open position was on a chronic long term floor, in three months they made me coordinator of nurse clinicians, this was before nurse practioners, where we took six critical care nurses, gave them increassed assessment skills and training, we did all the Er out patient assessments, could admit, patient generally only saw MD, if we felt admission was not warranted .....so you never know.... hang in there.....

oh and another reason, because of your husbands military transfer to mississippi in the near future, you can transfer to a va facility there, probably is one near his base......and since it is the va you can workvat any va on the same nurse lis......
