care plan

hello I am a student in my first year PN and I am working on a care-plan for a paraplegic that wants to lose weight, but the bike irritates his left shoulder, he is from a small town without the sports amenities, and in the winter can not get out to enjoy any physical exercise due to snow. I already have a diet plan set for him but am having an issue with the exercise portion any suggestions???

What are your ideas?

Do you have any type of reference materials/books that give guidance in formulating a nursing diagnosis?

Where would you start to solve this issue is there was no internet? Start there.

The exoskeleton might be beyond his reach, but there are organizations that can help with the expense. There are also people who do yoga with SCI patients; he might benefit from that and it won't put his shoulders at risk.

Right now I have using free weights (Dumbbells and barbells) or using a rubber physio band (brainfart can't remember what it is called) but fasten it to something sturdy for more arm exercises which both are great but my concern is the possibility of depression that comes with not being able to exercise outdoors and feel somewhat trapped

Moved to the Nursing Student Assistance forum.

In pretty such every state there's a SCI association and organizations facilitating recreation for the disabled. Your hospital PT or OT may know about it, or call the nearest rehab hospital, or google it. They'll get him outside even if it's winter, LOL. I know a guy who takes SCI folks skiing and rock climbing even in winter.
