Can I pass PCCN with one year experience?

I really want to get certified so is it realistic to expect that I can pass this test with only one year of Tele experience? If I studied pretty intensely, like an hour a day or so, do you think I could test within two months or so? Tele is really all the acute care experience I have....

I passed with one year of step-down experience. It wasn't easy though. Look at the AACN blueprint and see how much you see on your unit and study appropriately.

I will start to work GI surgery step down. some people saying j can sit for ccrn but I read topics and seems I can only eligible for progressive care certification. Any idea?

Thank you for the replies. I have purchased the PCCN review book and found David Woodruff's lectures online that I can listen to. The best I can do is try, right? Just joined AACN! :yes:

Hey all, I have a question regarding initial certification for a new graduate.

The wording:

  • Option 1: Practice as an RN or APRN for 1,750 hours in direct bedside care of acutely ill adult patients during the previous two years, with 875 of those hours accrued in the most recent year preceding application.

My question:

Does this mean that a new grad (like me) can take the test after 1750 hours (one year), or do you also have to be in that environment for two years as well?

Everyone I talk to seems to think it's 2 years. It seems like more of an hours requirement, not a year requirement by their wording.

Thoughts?

I don't know if they changed the requirements or what but one AACN site it says 1750 hours so by my calculations that is one year full time work. That is what I am going by. Now, if I can actually PASS is a different story, LOL

I think this is where the confusion on two years is coming from but the worked hours requirement still stands:

If you work full time, I think you would eligible to take test at the end of year.
